Mounted my buck last weekend

I play around with taxidermy some, just for myself not in the business. Too much extra work. I finally got around to mounting my 06 buck. Note the hole in his right ear. I still need to do the finish work, like paint the nose and around the eyes. But I thought iI would show he coming along

I have a friend who does it full time. I spend enough time at his shop that I pretty much taught myself. I do have him tan my hides for me tho. Here is the before pic.

very nice... How much did it cost you to do that? I have been want to experiment as well. I would like to try.... I have no experience or education in taxidermy. How hard is it? Be honest

what I want to know is how you start doing something like that in your spare time. I mean how did you learn. I think that looks pretty damn good.

I better not tell what the actual supplies cost.(trade secrets) Lets just say there is a lot more labor in it than the cost of the materials, very time consuming.

It really helps that I have seen it done hundreds of times at my buddies shop. Plus I have a couple of reference books to look at. To just start out with no experience would be kinda tuff.

gotcha, i figured it would take a long time and from what I referenced it would have cost around $110? I dunno tho. But it would be fun to tinker with... Oh well, I guess ill pay someone :(Thanks
