Techno Hunt

Nothing beats the mid off season rut of queing up some techno hunt.

Davepjr and I spent two hours yesterday at Lancaster Archery Supply shooting multiple animals at 20yds.

Our first hour was spent shooting Large Game such as Whitetails,Moose, Elk, Water Buffalo, Elephants and an occasional Giraffe.

Once we got the scoring down we shot a second hour.

The second hour was spent hunting small game. Let me tell you, there are some strange creatures in this program.

We shot snakes, doves, squirrels, a monkey (lol), ducks on a pond (double lol), racoons, coyotes, bob cats, rabbits (which I am blind and cannot see!), etc.

I shot an elk in the first session3 times in a row, ran a 40 yd dash and then shot the elk again! lol

Dave shota snake dead nuts in the head and made a FANTASTIC shot on a turtle sitting on a log. LMAO!

It was a fabulous time. Davepjr is an excellent shot,an all around good guy and I am definitely proud to call him my friend.

So I recommend to all of you that are sick of shooting at dots, go and shoot some techno hunt with a fellow HNI member. You never know what will pop up!

Thats some fun stuff. The small shop I go to only has a 20yd. distance to the screen.

RE: Techno Hunt

That's what ours was. (40 yd dash was to the screen and back. lol)

We paid $10 for an hour. It was worth every penny.

(actually, Dave paid...thanks again Dave!)

Yep I shoot Techno every year. It's a blast and good to compete with your buddies. We always put in $5 a round to make it more interesting.

Josh and I did have a blast. It was my first time and getting used to the bullseyes on some of the small critters was took a while.

Thanks for the compliment Josh. They ripped me off for the shot on the turkey. Right in the back of the head and they gave me a miss!!!

He's too modest to say that he also shot a different snake in the head for a bullseyeand made some great shots on the small animals too. That's after not shooting for a few weeks and just picking his bow up with 70# limbs instead of the 60# that was on and having to sight in right before we shot the techno.

The Large N. American game was more laid back and you had more time to choose a good shot. While on the small game the animals were moving a lot moreand required some quick decisions.

I thought I was going to stink it up with the way I shot before we started. However, once we started on "live" game I found I concentrated a lot more.

Maybe after a few we will have to make it interesting.

There are a lot of good guys in here and I'm just glad I've got to meet one of them and shoot with him. Right back at you Josh.

Oh I almost forgot the FROG! lol

We both nailed that one.

I am not sure if I can go back to shooting at dots. lol

If you want a challenge, if they have a turkey heads disc, that is both fun and frustrating at the same time. Turkey head is hard enough already but then they start bobbing and weaving around and you want to pull your hair out.:D:D

RE: Techno Hunt

Along those same lines is the duck on a pond.

The wind makes the duck bob up and down and all around.

It is great.

They had turkey on the small game. I hit one square in the head and the program told me I missed. [:@]

Technohunt is a blast. We just got a brand new system installed at the shop I work/shoot for and we play around with it all the time. After the shop closes we shoot it when no customers are there and what a blast. I usually use a recurve because you can really learn to punch the trigger on a technohunt system but it is quite a blast.

RE: Techno Hunt

Yeah, you smoked that thing.

There was a few controversial misses. It only adds to the fun. :D

i live close to LAS and a few other shops with dart/its systems. anyone wants to go...hit me up.

RE: Techno Hunt

True, just made me concetrate more on trying to smoke everything. The hard part was waiting on some of the Large game. Waiting for the animal to step forward to open up the heart. Now when I shoot at a target this week I'll be bummed out. I just hope no rabbits or birds run or land anywhere near the taget. lmao

Next time we decide to head up from Baltimore we'll give you a shout.

I am in. (Just don't give Dave directions to your house. He likes to mess with my mind. Remember trying to find lunch Dave? LMAO!)

I knew this was going to come up. You were the one talking to the guy about directions and totally messed them up. Then, you ask me what he said. I found our meeting place just fine with directions. Maybe we should let your wife comment on your navigational skills?

Lets not go that far Dave. lol

I couldn't help myself. It is a fact that I cannot navigate for anything. And to think...I am a highway engineer!

if you want a challege turn on the true yardage and windage !!! i shot this @ shop by me and it is very humbling!! but remeber it xbox 360 on striods and its just a game!!

davepjr71 06-03-2007 08:42 PM

RE: Techno Hunt

That would be a lot of fun. Didn't even know about that feature. However, from how far away some of the animals looked on the screen I thought there must have been something up with that.

MDBUCKHUNTER 06-03-2007 08:43 PM

RE: Techno Hunt

It's much better than shooting stupid dots over and over again.

How does the windage/true yardage work? Like Dave said...some of those animals looked farther away than others.

I swear I saw an 85lb squirrel!

Techno Hunt is pretty fun. The shop I shoot at at school has one, but it is not as fun as the Dart system, which is basically the same thing. The only differences are how it scores. On the Dart system if an anumal is quartering to you or there is an object obstructing the vitals you get negative two points. Makes it more fun when someone tries to rush the shot and then they get negative points. Plus it helps you to make better shots when it comes to the real thing. Glad you had fun!

I got to find one of these close to Denton, Texas. Anyone knowwhere I could find one within driving distance?

I honestly have not had that much fun since I was in my teens shooting a bow and I'm 36 now. Make sure to take a friend a long to bust chops with and laugh your butt off with.

The little criter (small game) was a total blast even though it was frustrating on the scores it gave at times. Well worth the money.

Yea, man is that thing fun. Did any of you get the duck on the ocean[8D], man is that thing hard. The waves move it up an down w/o stopping. RJ, I committed to Siena, so this summerI will be up at your shop to shoot some. I look forward to meeting you.

RE: Techno Hunt

Igotthat sucker. I think it there wa some luck involved. Josh said he watched my bow move up and down and up and down and I shot. I hit just above where it's body met the water.
