In my never ending mission to tinker with my bow until perfection, I'm trying to decide what to buy next...

New [custom] strings and cables,

or

MeanV CSS.

Which would you purchase?

IF you don't already have some sort of shot suppresion system like an STS then I would strongly suggest getting the MeanV system! If you already have an STS then buy the strings. Good luck and good shootin'

What are you trying to accomplish with this setup and what is it currently?

Both would serve you well for different scenarios......

As I have a Guardian, the smoothest shootin bow around, I have no need for the STS. So go with the strings.:D

Or get a Guardian.

jmbuck,

With all that high praise for the Guardian your avatar (though nice), is going to need some work, right?

Bowtech factory strings are pretty good. What kind of shape are yours in? I have both Gibblet strings and a STS on my bow. I don't want to shoot it if they aren't BOTH there. If your string is still in good shape get the surpressor first,( sorry John), and then get the string in late summer when you will still have time to shoot it in before season. Although John's strings are shot in with just a few shots.

Buckeye - This is strictly a hunting bow. Granted, I may shoot a little 3D with it here and there, but mainly it will be a hunting bow.

Jm - I shoot the Guardian nearly every day at work, no amount of shooting has convinced me that it is any better than my Allegiance. It has the "cool" new technology, but my Allegiance shoots just as well.

Tx - These are brand new factory strings. The previous set I put probably 1,500+ shot through and we had an extra set at work, so I swapped them out. They probably have roughly 200 shots on them. I'm not necessarily replacing them because they'll shoot any better, I just want a different color.

Well it comes down to fluff or function than :DI have custom color strings on my bow but I also have an STS. For hunting purposes I would say the STS is a solid pick.

Just because I won't be seen out there doesn't mean I don't want to look good doing it. ;)

I have a request in to Ryanaller, but I guess he is busy. I'll have to fix that.

Buy the STS or MeanV. If you haven't at least tried the STS. Put one on and see the difference for yourself. I didn't think my Allyhad much vibration until I tried the STS. Or, was that loud.

Plus, you can take your string silencers off when you put on the STS. I foundmy bow quieter and at a lower pitch once the silencers where removed.

I agree w/ dave. I have a MeanV on my Black Ice and I am very pleased w/ what it did for my bow. Spend the extra 10.00 to get matching camo.

YourAllegiance comes with quality strings made of 452x which is what most custom makers will also use. I would use the money for a STS/CSS type device this year. You will eventually need new strings and thats when I would go custom in color and maker. The STS is a great addition, I have had one on my last 5 bows, every other one will also.

WH, go w/the Mean V suppressor. I put one on my Tribute. Awesome product. I think a few here w/Allys put them on also. Strings r nice, but I think that the CSS will do more 4 your bow 4 hunting. U won't be dissappointed w/it.

My 2006 Bowtech Tribute factory string is keeping my peep perfectly aligned so I did not need to go with an after market string to be able to shoot a rubberband free peep. I put on a Mean V CSS and am more than happy with it. I am impressed to say the least. I removed my cat whiskers and factory string silencers and the Mean V has made thebow very quiet. The bowshoots superbly. Why Bowtech isn't putting these on the bows from the factory is a mystery to me. Mean V is an awesome string suppressor.

Washington Hunter, I was just looking through the posts and happened to be interested in yours. I have a 2005 Alle. and was wondering what the STS and MeanV CSS are. I am always looking for upgrades. I may kno what you are talking about but don't understand the abreviations. Thanks for the help!

What mount type would you need for an Allegience? How do they mount to the bow? It looks like some screw in and others go along with the stablizer. Are they easy to mount? Thanks for the help guys!

davepjr71 05-31-2007 08:23 PM

RE: Next archery purchase...

The rear mount STS goes in the threaded insert on the back side of the riser opposite the stabilizer. If you do not have the rear threaded isnert you use a front mount and your stabilizer. I use the rear insert for my '07 Allegiance.

Follow the link that I posted above for the STS.

Also, here's a link for the MeanVSS.
