Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
Hey all,
Looking at a new sight and I was wondering whether I should spend the extra money on the one that has the micro adjust???? What does this mean and is it necessary.... http://www.yeoldearcheryshoppe.com/copper-john-dead-nuts-micro-sight-p-5190.html?osCsid=4a6b43c4f38705a6e2b6ae5dabf36e49 Jim |
RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
Not to me. It will help you fine turn a little faster but once its set where you want it you wont use it again much.

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
I'm done with micro adjust. I just traded in my micro adjust for one with all bolts. Suck when things wiggle a little bit here and there.

I will never buy a sight that is NOT micro adjustable. I love the Viper Predator Pro MT....to, the precision micro adjust is priceless.....

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
So what is the benefit???

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
What is the price difference ? The micro is not needed but if it is not that much more than get it

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
The benefit, to me......is knowing I can tune my entire sight window OR simply move an individual sight PIN just a hair.
Otherwise.....I feel like I'm using a monkey wrench to move something.....when I'm looking to slide my 40 yd pin 1/64". If you don't know the difference (i.e. haven't used a micro).....then this probably doesn't make sense. |
RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
Is the viper predator pro MT micro adjust pin by pin or gang adjustment?
|
RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
The Viper isn't pin by pin.....but my Spot Hogg is.

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
Microadjust all the way. I hated the days of trying to adjust a pin to move the impact 2" at 40 yards and your hand is shaking a little, the bolt won't slide, you push harder, and then it shoots way past where you wanted it, and you have to start all over. In my mind, it is worth is for the ease to make those small adjustments at longer ranges. If I didn't shoot past 20 yards, then it probably wouldn't matter as much.

RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
I agree that microadjust is worth the money. I have the CJ Dead Nuts 2 Supreme Competition for 3d and it is a very well made sight. I just got an Extreme RT1000 for my hunting bow and I regret not opting for the Viper (I'm looking for a Viper now).
I like to precisely fine tune my bow so that any miss is shooter induced. I feel we owe it to the animals we hunt to make sure that we are as precise as we can be with our shooting and our equipment. So, to me, it is worth the extra to make sure that my equipment is as microtuned and sighted in as possible. BTW, the CJ microtune is VERY nice. You can micro tune the gang adjustment and the pins. Not many sights offer that. |
RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
Just a shameless plug but anyone wanting to try the new copper john, I havea 6 pin comp modelthat that is nearly new that I would sell for very cheap. This is the one the highest end model they have right now and is super super super bright and microadjust everything.
I like the sight and it is awesome for hunting but I just don't need it right now during 3D season........if anyone is interested shoot me a PM. They are on backorder and sell for $165, I would sell this for WAY less than that....... |
RE: Extra $$ for Micro Adjust
To help plug RJ's plug, that is the sight I have, and if you can get a "new" one for less than the going rate I would say jump on it. It may be the most well-made sight I have owned.
