Thermals go up the side of the ridge in the morning and down the the side of the ridge in the evening. I would check the prevailing wind and see how it works with the thermals and then hunt the appropriate spot. I would also pay attention to the direction, NS or EW,the ridge runs and the relation of your potential hunting spots to the rising and setting sun.

My understanding is that thermals will go down hill in the morning and uphill in the evening, so scent would be more likely to follow those directions during that time of the day. So if keeping scent limited is a big piece of what you are looking for, I would say hunt low in the morning and high in the evening.

?, maybe I am confused? I guess you would be right. Warmth = rising thermals and cooling = settling thermals.

Yes, the night air is cool and, as the rising sun warms it, it rises. Vice versa in the evening.
