I had a bad 1st; 2006 was the 1st deer I arrowed that I didn't recover, never found the arrow, he didn't bed down for over a mile of tracking (I didn't push him), I'm pretty sure that the shot that looked OK actually got him in the upper bicep and never entered the boiler room.

I had a couple of good firsts as well:
First deer taken that I know I called in (Can call). First buck worth taking to the taxidermist. First fox with a bow or any tackle for that matter. One bad first: First time I had my car broken into (while recovering my buck).[:@] |
RE: Bowhunting First's
Last year I took my first doe with a bow. It was the first doe I took since I was 14 and that was my first deer ever and that was with a Flintlock muzzleloader.
I grew up under the old concept that any buck is better than a doe..I changed as I became successful and started taking only Quaility Bucks, but I could never drop the hammer, so to speak on a doe. Finally I got over that hump! It was the best eating deer I've ever shot (well over 25 bucks later) My family devoured it in record time and they are sending me out with instructions to fill the freezer with Doe this year. |
RE: Bowhunting First's
Your "transition" is commendable, GR8. Congrats on the doe.
