RE: What's the dumbest thing you ever did?

One day I was working on a car in my garage and decided to take a break. As I walked to the house to get a drink, I noticed a huge ant mound up against the cinder block base of the side of the house. I was concerned that they might be getting into the house so I stopped to investigate. Coincidentally, I'd still had my can of STARING FLUID in my hand so I got the great idea to burn'em.

I didn't know this at the time since I'd never tried putting a match to starting fluid but ummm... Starting fluid doesn't just quickly burnand fade away like alcohol. Rather, it lingers and no matter how much swatting you do, it doesn't put out the flames. Needless to say, the side of my house was beginning to catch fire as I was frantically kicking and stomping.

Then almost as if it was fate, a fire truck just happened to be rolling though the neighborhood probably on routine. The truck stops immediately upon spotting the incompetent pest control man stomping 2-3 foot flames. The disco lights go on and 4 or 5 guys get out, with 2 of them rushing firefighter sized extinguishers to my aid.

After they put out the fire, the head guy looked at me with the most "are you frikkin retarded" look I'd ever gotten then asked what the heck I thought I was doing. In short, there's no good way to explain what I was rationalizing prior.

I've got a three car garage, and let's just say I will always make sure the right door is open from now on when I leave.

My boss' wife did that with his Brand Spankin New Silverado! So funny. We still get a kick out of that one.

Forgot my release at home and had a nice big doe come out 20 yards from me. I pulled back with fingers but i decided against making the shot..... because i did not want to wound her with a bad shot.

well the second half of that was a smart decision not a dumb one! and the first one was mild compared to some of the stories!

I agree! Not taking the shot got you back to even for the day.
