Sexy...Kind of.

My new wraps, that is.

While walking through the store yesterday, I was struck with a halfway intelligent idea. I had just passed the fishing lures and came across something that I thought was pretty neat.

Reflective fishing lure tape.

Wraps normally go for $14.99 per dozen.

I made 18 1"x7" wraps for $3.87.

Shine a flashlight on these bad boys after dark and you'll go blind. Well... You'll be able to find them pretty quick, anyway.

Just thought I'd share the idea. ;)

Keeping the "Kind of" portion of the title in mind, I'd hate to know what you were expecting, Germ. :D

Maybe a dumb question......but have you thought about what sunlight might do to these?

Just wondering.

Jeff,

As far as what?

Reflecting and spooking animals?

I'm pretty sure that as long as I'm not waiving my quiver around in the tree I should be safe. Worst case scenario I'll cover it with an extra shirt.

We can't use lumenoks here, so I was looking for something to aid in arrow recovery.

RE: Sexy...Kind of.

I use reflective wraps that I know don't react adversely to sunlight (just flashlight at night). Just a thought.

Ihope these work out well for you.

RE: Sexy...Kind of.

We'll see how it works out, Jeff.

For the price, it was worth trying out. We've actually got some glow in the dark lure tape too, so I may try that out as well.

I just hate paying $14.99 for a dozen wraps!

Cool idea, but I was thinking the same thing as Jeff as soon as I saw them. If you're moving (drawing, adjusting on the deer, etc.) the sun could reflect off your arrow and you're busted.

On another note, why are your Blazers so far away from the nock? I've never seen them set up like that before.

I seem to remember something my mom said about going blind?!... That is a clever idea you have there!

You need to get a hold of onestringer in the classifieds. He has wraps for a lot less than $14.99 a dozen. Any color and design you need.(Except maybe reflective fishing lure tape.)

I think I can get close to 100 out of a .97-cent can of gloss white spray paint from Wal-Mart... ;)

Pretty nifty idea there Danno.....It's been asked, but I gotta bring it up again.......Are those blazers really that far from the nock, or is it just looking that way in the photo??

I think its just the picture, guys.

The Blazers are only a little over an inch away from my nocks.

Its not something I can do anything about with the E-Z fletch. That's as close as they'll get.

That's a great idea! How much do they weigh? Do they they weigh more than regular wraps? Do you think they will affect your arrow spine differently than regular wraps?

Washington Hunter 05-08-2007 07:14 PM

RE: Sexy...Kind of.

They weigh less than the wraps I was previously using. The material used for these is thinner.

The wrapsI was using weighed 11 grains, these weigh 8.

I used to go to a sign maker in town and just buy decal material in any color I wanted and even bought reflective tape and I was gettin 12" by 2' for $5.00.I can get alot of wrapswith that. The regular material was only $3.00 and the last timeI went in,he just gave me a couple feet.:D

I don't mess with the wraps much anymore.

I use white reflective tape from walmart. $1.97 in the automotive dept. They look good and really light up when hit with a flashlight.

Anyone ever try using some reflective wrap on the opposite end of the arrow.

Seems at times if the arrow breaks and the animal does not keep the front end inside the body itis often times much harder to find then the fletching end.

Been my experience anyway.

mobow 05-09-2007 01:20 PM

RE: Sexy...Kind of.

I personally haven't, but I've seen guys that have both ends of the arrow wrapped white....

This occurred on the first deer I ever shot......and I regret not recovering that entire arrow.

That also puts a little more weight up front. Same idea as Carbon Express uses on those $140/dz weight forward maximas. All they are is camo dipped on the front 60% of the arrow.
