Natural springs hunting?
 

Does anyone on here hunt anatural water spring? I know of one down at the camp where I hunt at but I never hunt it. I thought about trying if it is hot the first part of the season.

never tried it...they say water can be hot spots when its hot out...but water is pretty plentiful around here...i dont think id really see success hunting right near water..but if water is kinda scarace and its hot out id check it for deer activity..never know

Out here, if you find a natural mountain spring set back in the trees; it has a good potential to be an elk wallow.

I do. During the chase phase of the rut....those deer are going to need water. I highly recommend hunting near a watering hole.

never have myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Deer hafta drink so it could be the ticket. Hang a deer camera and see what you come up with.

One of my favorite spots to hunt we call "The Pond Stand", as the name states we have a stand hunt about 20 yards from the edge of a pond that is in a grown up golden rod field. The pond is tucked right up against the woodline. The deer will come out of the woods and get a drink at the pond before heading towards the corn field in the evening and this place is a true hot spot. It is great the early part of archery season when temps are up in the high 70's. The other great thing about this stand is that there is always alot of other animals visiting it so you are constantly entertained while sitting in the stand. You can see deer, squirrel, raccoon, groundhogs, fox, coyote, turkey, oppossum, ducks, pheasant, ect.. in one sitting!
