RE: Bitzenburger; worth the dough?

I"m with TFOX... never used the Arizona personally (seen it used a bunch), but I first bought a Grayling when I started getting into doing my own fletching.... after becoming extremely frustrated at the "slop" in it, I took it back and applied my credit to a Bitz... I've never looked back. I fully expect my youngest son (24 days old) to be using this jig when he's my age.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with the shop owner.

He has a round table to fletch 2 dozen arrows at once set up with the bitz's.I was crying about the cost of something and he said, what are you complaining about,I just bought all new clamps for that table. What do you think that set me back.

He actually wore the clamps out after about 20 years of fletching for his shop.;)

I was going to but I paused the camera and got out a little needle and shoved it through the tipand all was better.:D

I thought I had it after the first feather but it was a stubborn little sucker.[:-]

I'm with Greg/MO and TFOX, I got a used freebie when the BEAR plant moved from Grayling to Florida, no telling how many arrows it had fletched befor I got it, and I'm still using it today. As far as helical, I can put such a mean one on an arrow with my BITZ that if you flatten the tip on a field point and shave two sides of it flat, my arrows will turn a screw at 20 yards! what you think of that:D

As the boys above have mentioned, there's simply NO comparing any other jig in the industry to the Bitz. Once you use one, you'll understand why they are considered THE standard! I've used 'em all over the years and nothing comes close,IMHO.I know they cost just a bit more than theel'cheapo plastic models but the solid magnet and metal quality will truly last you a lifetime. I seriously doubt that I'll ever need to buy another jig. Buy one, you won't regret it!

I have an AZ but went to the Bitzenburger when I wanted to experiment more with my arrows. I can't speak to the jo-jan or grayling but the bitz is some of the best money I have spent so far. Very versatile and rock solid.

If you have the money buy it they will last a lifetime. I have six of them 2-right,2-left,2-straight. My uncle and grandpa bought 12 of them over 25 years ago. I got half and my uncle got the other half all are still in top notch condition and they are not that hard to adjust them if need be.

Greg, you've mentioned the "slop" in the Grayling jig before, and I've always been curious as to what you mean. I've been using the Grayling for 3 or 4 years now with absolutely no problems or frustrations at all. We have Bitz's at the shop I work for, and there's no question they are a quality product, especially if you'll be fletching hundreds of arrows. I just simply cannot tell the difference......And for the money...No thanks.
