Did you ever just have one of those days???

I was trying to do some practice shooting yesterday afternoon, and I gave up after two rounds of five arrows. I knew it was me torquing the bow, but no matter what I did, I couldn't stop. Each time I aimed, the pins looked like the attached picture. I think that some days it's best to just stop and try again tomorrow....

How do you hold your bow?

All heel. No part of the palm side of the "life-line" touches the grip. Index finger curled around until the fingertip just lightly touches the front of the riser, the other three fingers curled but not touching.

Yeah, we all have those days. Like when your pin is floating in a 10" circle on a dot 10 yards away. Sometimes it's best to just put the bow away and do something else.

Ok

Do you have a sight with a level on it?

Yes, my sight has a level, and I've been using it constantly. I've gotten to where I "almost" don't need it, but still use it anyway. I noticed that when I started practicing out of my climber, what looks straight up and down isn't necessarily straight up and down.

Yep, some daysyou think you could hit anything, some days you could not hit the side of the barn, I know the feeling.

Yep. Best thing to do is hang it up for the day. Don't want to unknowingly develop any bad habits.

Some days I get the jerks and just can't stop anticipating the release. Have to hang it up before it becomes a habit and come back later.

Atleast you were smart enough to realize that it was you and not the bow--half the time i'm too stubborn to accept that it's me and not the bow,so i'm tinkering and adjusting and nothing seems to work![:@]So,you've got common sense on your side.;):D

Well, since I've been coming to this board, I've learned a lot of little things to keep me going on days like you're having. Try something abnormal, adifferent way of practicing that you don't normally do. I read a post from one of the many wise archers on here stating that "You should be able to close your eyes, then draw your bow, set your anchor and grip, and when you open your eyes you should be looking through your peep at your pins." It helped me concentrate on what my draw cycle, grip and anchor feels like, instead of what it looks like. Also try practicing whilesitting in a chair, or even sitting on the ground or kneeling. Anything different will help.

Give it a try.
