Big 6pt

I got this rack off a real old mount that a guy gave me. His beams are 22" & 23" with 4 1/2" bases. It's the biggest 6pt I've seen, thought I'd share it.

RE: Big 6pt

That is a nice 6 point. In someareas he would not be legal to shoot. Bucks must have 4 points on one side. One area of that law that doesn't make sense.

RE: Big 6pt

Yes buckhunter, here in Pa he would only be legal in certain WMUs as well.

RE: Big 6pt

That's a dandy six point. Yep, antler restrictions were put in place to make quality management "idiot proof", but there's a serious downside to passing up deer strictly based on the number of points per side.

Nothing wrong with a big 6. I got one pic of this one but never saw him while hunting. Check out the spread

Luckily here in Oregon the bucks only have to have one forked antler to be fair game.

RE: Big 6pt

i had to let one walk this year in bow season...i wont claim it to be that big...but man was it a big 6pt. atleast 16-18 wide and long tines. big brow tines, big long g2s and a nice wraped around end of the main beam on both sides....very nice buck. mass wasnt huge, but wasnt completely spindly either...definently 2.5 or 3.5. i had binocs on him trying to put that 4th point on to make him legal...couldnt even find a bump. i heard he was killed the first day of rifle and the guy swears up and down it had a 4th point[:@]...might have...but watching him for about 5 minutes from 50 into 25-30yds with binocs i couldnt find a hint of a point...bucks like that are bound to be killed in PA rifle season...just because they are big tooooo many guys will assume its legal...and alot of guys simply say its easier to count points when they are dead[:@]

Nice 6 pointer glad someone let him mature to get to be that big.

If I saw a 6 that big that got to be that old I'd be tickled pink to take him. On one property I hunted there was a big old 6 that was heavy and wide and he was the big dog in that area. The other "bigger" bucks stayed clear of him. I would have loved to have take that buck.

here is a big (main frame) 6 with a few stickers that was killed in my neighborhood last fall. It was the kids first buck and he hit it in under the temple with a slug. The pics dont even do it justice. it had mass all through out.

I'm just starting to mount on a picture plaque..So sorry it's not Finished just yet.

The second pic gives some size comparison as my son is holding a 12" rule to the G2

Those are some big 6ers. I'd be happy to take any of them. It looks like most of them are 3.5 years and up. That's a trophy to me.

Bloodcreek, in the background of the first pick you can see that deer's skinned tail. That's the first time I've ever seen that. Creepy.[:'(]

Here's my nicest 3x3. Probably not as big as some of the others posted, but still the nicest one I've ever seen on the hoof. Kinda hard to tell it from the picture, but he's over 18.5" wide, a clean 3x3. Not even a hint of a brow tine.

shed33 05-02-2007 11:35 AM

RE: Big 6pt

I've found only a few 3x3 whitetail sheds over the years and I have never seen a 3x3 whitetail on the hoof.. most of our bucks go from nub bucks at .5 years oldto little 4x4's at 1.5

RE: Big 6pt

Yeah i kind of thought that to when i was looking at the buck. That was the first time i had seen a deer done that way. Reminds me of my trapping days. I skinned many of coon, mink, fox and coyotes that way.

RE: Big 6pt

I had to let a giant 6 point walk a few years back. I was archery hunting in a WMU that was a mandatory 4 pts on a side and this big 3X3 walks past me at 20 yards. We had seen this buck for several years but because he was in a 4pt restriction WMU nobody could take him. Thats the one downside of the antler restrictions here in PA, this buck was obviously mature and obviously wasnt getting any better antler growth but nobody could shoot him and remove those genes from the herd.

APAJaws has a pair of 3x3 sheds he picked up in the Albany County bow only zone thatis absolutely huge, it has10" G2's and 5" bases.

RE: Big 6pt

I'd pay good money to shoot a 6 like the one BloodCreek posted. You can quote me on that! I'm convinced it's the hardest trophy to attain. Think about it, how many big, and when I say big, I mean nasty, 6 point whitetails have you seen? And big nasty 10's?
