Torque Less Grips

Saw them mentioned in another thread and was wondering if anyone uses them and how well they work.

The website www.torqueless.com doesn't really explain how the grips help reduce torque (unless I missed it).

Anyone?

They are nice diamondwood grips with sweet colors that's for sure.

I put an aftermarket Shrewd on my SB.....and loved the change. It looks similar to the one you posted.....only metal.

Anyone with a SB that is interested in this grip can PM and try it free of charge before purchasing one of their own.

I have one on my drenalin and it is sweet. They reduce the torque on the bow because they are so much narrower than the mathews grips. I have always loved the way the mathews shoots just can't stand there fat grips. Putting a torque less grip on helps dramaticly at least with me because i have small hands. They also have a deeper throat on the grip compared to the nonexistant one on a production mathews grip, this seems to help get a more consistant placement of the hand every time you grab the bow. Finally you can decide what grip you want low, medium or high. If someone can make the images smaller for me I have some pics that compare the two side by side.

Actually I believe the Torqueless grips are "copies" of the shrwed grips... or so I'm told.

I have a HCG (Tronjo) grip on my XT and love it! It's also a low wrist slim palm grip.

I just ordered the torqueless grip for the Drenalin I am getting. I hate the grips on Mathews bows because I use a low grip and they promote a lot of torque.

I have seen but not tried the vanhandle death grip. Supposedly they are a truly torqueless grip system because they swivel. It's a pretty cool concept, but pricey.

Yeah if you have a Matthews the first thing I would do would change the grip!! Nice bows but they really need to fix those grips, they should join the crowd and go to just the sideplates. I like those much better but it's just me.

RE: Torque Less Grips

I dont' have one on my bow, nor have I shot one, but I have held and drawn bows with the grip on them and I have to admit they're pretty nice. The concept is very unique and definitely works. They have laser pointers mounted on the front of the bows that you can point at a wall and when you're at full draw you can torque your wrist all over the place and the laser stays put. My only complaint is that the grip is a little fatter than I normally like.

I could probably get ahold of one and mount it on my bow if everyone wants to know what I think. I'll be your guinea pig, so to speak. :D

Sounds cool, Justin... I remember that was one of the BIG advantages of switching to Bowtech after shooting Mathews for six years: Strings and grips. First thing I did was change out the strings and put a Tronjo grip on my Mathews bows...

Speaking from experience -- Tronjo makes absolutely beautiful grips, and he can custom-make it to whatever your preference is: low, high or medium wrist.

I haven't personally even laid my hands on one, however a friend installed one on his 06' Tribute and swears it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The idea of having the square hard lines makes sense if you think about it. If you are applying any torque what so ever you will feel that square edge and make you think twice about what is going on. I'm thinking about one for my 05' allegiance, but I want to try his first.

"

Torque reducing design promotes tighter arrow grouping."This is a statement from the TorqueLess grip webpage. When you first look at their information, you think that the grip eliminates torque. It cannot and does not eliminate torque. What if does is the same thing that is now being done by many bow manufacturers. They are producing more narrow and smallergrips which automatically reduces the ability to 'grip' the bow - ie: reducing the possibility of bow torque. Now to the Vanhandle grip. This has a muchbetter chance of torque reduction because it has a pivoting capability as I understand it. Again, I doubt very much if the claims for total torque reduction could be accomplished. To do this the pivoting would have to much more extreme than what is shown in the pictures. Torque reduction on this item, possible. Torque elimination for those who really 'grip' a bow, doubtful.

IMPO, both of these products will find a better market in bows using the Mathews style grips. Bows using the BowTech style grips would be a much harder sell; however, some may find slight advantages. With the 'neutral' grip form that I teach to my customers, I personallydon't seemuch of a need for such aftermarket grips. Elimination of lefts and rights is not a big issue here and correcting something that is not reallyan issue is not worth the trouble or money.:)

Len, that is a very good point. I don't think there is a cure-all magic bullet for torque. These products will help to eliminate torque, but it is still up to us the archers to make a conscious effort to have good form, including a proper grip. These product with good form will have people shooting tight groups.

RE: Torque Less Grips

I currently have the torqueless grip on my Icon but I'm thinking about going back to the schrewd grip.

The differences between the two is that the torqueless is wood, much prettier, and has a radius to the edge. The Schrewd is metal with a flat edge.

I tried the torqueless for one league season and don't think that it gives me the easy repeatability of the schrewd grip. I plan to go back to the schrewd metal grip.

This is obviously a personal preference thing. I doubt that I will have any trouble finding a home for the torqueless grip.

Len I could not agree more.

I shoot Ross, Mathews, Bowtech and hoyt. All the same, they all have differnet grips;)

i'd like to try a vanhandle grip, but just for novelty. it seems to me that products like this dont make you a better archer, just compensate for your bad form and give you a false sense of security.

Well, I got my torqueless grip in the mail yesterday. Now I just need to getthe bow to put it on.[:@] Anyway, it is very fine craftsmanship and is very well made. It is very comfortable and I can't wait to feel the fit on my bow. They have a note in the package stating that it is made to fit tight to have high tolerances and they send a sanding block in the event that it is too tight for the riser. I will try to get some pics tonight and get them posted.
