How many die hard bowhunters are on the site, and hunt exclusively with archery equipment the entire season?

The only time my shotgun leaves its' sock is to hunt small birds (duck, pheasants, chukkar, dove).

ALL big game pursuits are via bow and arrow.

That makes two of us.

Although sometimes i do a little 'wing shooting' with my bow. Killed a few geese this year with archery equipment, it was a rush!

All big game is strickly with my bow.

I rifle hunt coyotes and shotgun ducks & geese, but to be honest I only hunt them to kill time. I don't really like it all that much.

Hunting with a bow is all I ever do , no matter what I'm hunting for wheather it be deer , turkey , rabbit even bear I always use my bow.

The only thing that I don't hunt with a bow is squirrels. Arrows are to expensive.

This is the start of my 51st year of Biggame Bowhunting-I have never purchased a Biggame Gun tag.
On the last day of my $3000 Caribou Hunt as we were waiting for the plane to pick us up we had 3 very good Bulls top a ridge 100 yards from our camp. You can use either bow or gun. I had 1 very nice Archery Bull & one empty tag-the guide walked up to me with his rifle & in his French accented voice said-it is a easy shot from here-you may take him now. I said thank you, & declined-I came home with one & everyone else had their 2 bulls. Archery all the way. I have been fortunate to have taken MANY different animals over the years (guessing over 200) but ya know-I must have missed twice that many-can "YOU" imagine "ALL' the rushes I have experienced in my lifetime????? IT IS GREAT!!!!!!!! Just a few of MANY Bucks.

I have a collection of muzzleloaders and centerfires that are collecting nothing but dust. Last thing I killed with a rock was a caribou with my flintlock 5 years ago, come to think of it, I've never killed anything with a centerfire rifle...:eek: I guess that working as a gunsmith gave me too much access to deals I just couldn't refuse.

Bow only for me!! The only thing that the gun comes out for me is for rabbits, and I sometimes take out the bow for them. I have no desire whatsoever to hunt big game with a gun.

I still use firearms as well as my bow for all types of game. I find that the challenge while different, can sometimes be just as difficult if not more with certian types of firearms. I enjoy firearms and the different manner of hunting they provide way too much to ever stop using them.

Up until justa coupleseasons ago I hadn't put much emphasis on any form of gun hunting.However, nowthat my kids are begining to hunt and the fact that Illinois allows them to hunt with a firearm and a legally licensed adult before many can even pull the minimum 40# draw weight required for archery,..... this means that I get to share the outdoors with my kids while teaching them respect for firearms and safe and responsible gun handling. That's fine by me though, I started the same way and I believe it was a great intro.About the only gun I seem to carry these days is the trusty Thompson/Center and that's simply because during the Illinois Firearm season we are NOT allowed to carry a bow. It's either carry your muzzleloader or stay home,.... that simply isn't an option during mid november in Illinois!

Bow and on a rare occaision muzzle loader but havn't done so in 10 years or so I guess. Probally a result of no place to hunt useing a gun but that isn't a bad thing.

I am a bow hunter only too, its hurts sometime when you have a nice buck 80 or 90 yds out a can not do anything but plan for next hunt.

wish i could say that. ive only been hunting for6 years (16 yo), and i just cant seem to grab the bow during rifle rut season. i tell myself to do so, and i do enjoy bowhunting more, but i cant seem to pass up my .270 because of 80 yard encounters with shootable deer in bow season. I will say that over the entire course of the season, i stillspend more days with a bow than gun.

gun 3 weeks in november
muzzleloader 2 weekends one in oct one in dec.

kinda evens out when you compare 5 weekends to 5 months.

Bow only for deer for the past 5 years. I still bring out the shotgun for turkeys and dove( I would like to see someone shoot dove with a bow). I use my 17 cal for coyotes, squirelsand ground hogs.

Bowhunting's it for me... sold my high-powered rifles soon after I started bowhunting.

Bare hands, rocks, sticks, knives, bows, guns...I'm not caught up so much with the "hows"as I am with the "whens and whys". If I'm trying to help a family in need of food, for example and time is of the essences, I expedite the hunt and pull out the rifle. If I'm required to stick closely to ahunter unskilled in the woods (e.g. child), again the rifle is in tow (but rarely used). I have also had hand/arm/shoulder injuries which forced me to select alternative weapons (e.g. crossbow). I love the woods too much to sitin the dugout. Moreover, themeat goes a long way in my family. In general though, I prefer hunting with my bow over all other means.

I feel blessed to be in the woods...sometimes hunting with only a camera. However, I'm too practical. I would rather fill a tag (on which I've spent good money)than eat tag soup. If I were bow hunting and, on the last day of the hunt, my guide handed me a rifle...it's bye-bye bou!

I spend most of my time with a bow in my hands but I also like to gun hunt to. My dream hunt is a Alaskan Brown Bear hunt with a bow but you can bet your but I want a guidebehind me with a big rifle. Iwould also have a .454 Casull on my side for protection.

Firearms have made it out to the woods with me a maximum of twice a year the last 9 years, so I can't say I'm bow only. I am bow primarily. When I go out for the PA opener it is just impractical to try to bowhunt because the deer are so pressured and skittish they aren't standing still for long, and I am not comfortable shooting a bow at a moving deer. So, the guns still have their place for me.

I use my bow for "hunting" & my guns for putn' meat in the freezer!
