I did post a different pic of this monster so time ago. It green scored 237". Rumor on the iowadeer.com board is that the hunt was filmed for Primetime 7 video and was taken as part of a special hunt at an old ammunition plant near Cedar Rapids.

KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL.

That's an awesome rack on that big boy.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

JRW,,You still dont get my sense of humor Do you? Look I have rubber peoples heads mounted on my car roof.I stick deer legs and tails in my grill of my car and drive around for months.I place deer targets in my yard with people heads on them.I stick mounted deer heads out of my car windows.I have rubber people arms hanging out of my car windows.I have rubber snakes on my dash. All I'm saying with my sarcastic humor is that the comments made that whitetails dont have split tines need to hunt in states that are full of them.Thats all I meant.I have shot several split tine bucks in Iowa and South texas ,they do exist in abudance in big buck states.I shot 179 deer in my pathetic life and I have somewhere around a dozen split tine Whitetails. I am getting ready today to put out a full size Santa in my yard with a play rifle and holding a old deer mounted head.I own dozens of machine guns anything from a german broom handle to a fully made auto Mac 10. I'm a nudist and when I do put clothes on I never where socks or underwear. I eat anything from onion sandwichs to pizza on the deer stand and collect used tampons from the local women to hang in trees .Thats me.People either think I'm nuts or stupid. I believe we should not celebrate Christmas on December 25th,but all year.Christ was not born in December anyway. And I'm known to just walk up and give a needy person my last 10 dollars.Yep I'm a weirdo. Have a blessed holiday. And dont use credit cards,or you will be responsible for destroyng are Nation even more.Use cash or don't buy it.Another of my beliefs.I Dont pay income tax either.Cause some of my money would go for abortions thru Government programs.I wont be part of murdering children. And I talk to much.

I have no desire to get in a whizzing match, but with all due respect, please don't delete my post THEN proceed to catagorize it as "negitive opinions and assults".

If you wish to remove my post, that's fine. It's your job and that's alright with me...but don't proceed to tell me that I assaulted the man after you remove a post that clearly did not. At best, you blew it out of proportion, at worst,,,,I won't say.

BTW, you remove my post, then allow "...collect used tampons from the local women to hang in trees" to stand? Good grief!

The man don't pay taxes, I doubt he's worried about a few guns. The IRS makes the ATF look like a bunch of schoolgirls. Then again, for the most part, they are.

Enough fussing amongst hunters and associates.Subject ended. But yes with proper federal license you can own machine guns. That is a law given to me in my State Of Pa and many others. No income no one has to pay taxes.I live in the poverty income level for years.I dont need to pay taxes even if I decided to.My income last year was 9300.00.Subject closed.Really sides should not be taken amongst sportsman. One goal and that should be Keep hunting alive and legal and the right to bear arms ,if it includes a Bazooka.Which I dont own,but my dad does.Peace please. If my life style offends anyone,Sorry my choice in a free republic. My sense of humor I admit is eccentric, again my choice.I dont think we should hammer eachother on our personnel choice of life style, religion,or race. Please Peace

The problem I see here is that after Cardeer's failed hoax on his 170" shed doe, all the posts about the topic were locked, deleted etc. We were practically forbidden to speak of it.
Now after the fact, Cardeer never misses a chance to fire a dig at those who questioned him on his Jackalope.

If Cardeer won't let it rest, Why should the naysayers lay down

Is that what that hat is? LOL! The first picture I saw of him and the deer he had a Primetime hat on. What did the guy do...shoot an incredible deer then take a couple rolls of "pay me money" pictures with different hats?

I work with the guy from Cabelas that arrowed a big one from Iowa that my manager also taped and then sold to be on Primetime 7 But this pic isn't the guy or buck. I've seen the rack a few times. Grossed 198 and net 176 I think, as a typical 10ptr. The rack is just so heavy it's unreal. I've even seen the footage a couple times. It's one heck of a deer. Not as big as my other buddies KS buck he arrowed but still a one-of-a kind for sure.

I don't know what all that static was about and I don't want to be part of it...but cardeer is correct. Split brow tines are commonplace on large deer in my neck of the woods.

The pictures shown are two different ones than what I've seen elsewhere. I think I've seen a total of four, and now that you mention it, he was dressed differently everytime. I wouldn't assume that anything sinister was in place though. I own a lot of hats and choose among them according to mood, temperature, the outfit I have on, or if I just want to wow the teenyboppers at the local mall. Young chicks do like camo, right? lol.

Merry Christmas to all.

Just as a matter of interest and fun conversation...

Doesn't it seem that sometimes when an ordinary guy kills a true honest-to-Pete monster, that there's always a few in the hunting community that are skeptical about how he got it? I guess that the highly publicized controversies have bred a whole new wave of conspiracy theories.

JRW 12-19-2002 10:59 AM

RE: Iowa Monster (Pic)

vc1111,

I didn't read that anyone was skeptical about how he got the deer. My comment was about how some hunters will pose with animals wearing different camo patterns, holding different calls, wearing different hats, using different bows, etc....to "cash in".

Wearing Realtree when you shot the deer, but mossy Oak will pay more? No problem. Just switch outfitts and snap another roll. You didn't even have a call with you, but Primos will pay $$ for good advertising photos? Cool. Grab "the can" and let the shudder snap. Deer came in from upwind? Who cares, grab a Scent-Lok hat and shoot another roll of 400 speed. Let's not forget to wear that black Matthews hat too...that's always good for marketing.

Personally, I find the whole thing offensive and degrading, but that's just me.

JRW - I see your point and I haven't seen any other pictures which show multiple outfits but in the two posted here the guy has on all the same clothes with just a different hat on. I'm willing to believe he changed them without planning on profiting from it. Had I shot a monster buck this fall I was planning on getting at least one picture with it wearing a hat with my local archery shops name on it just because the owner helped me a lot with my set-up and it would look good hanging in his shop.

I agree with you on the moderator censoring too. Sometimes I think they takes themselves far too seriously. I'm sure the Nazi's at Nuremburg thought they were just diligently following the rules too.
