Creating an agreement/contract

I just got permission to hunt 150 arces by knocking on some doors and told the gentleman I would type up some kind of agreement/contract for both us to sign. What should I include in this written agreement? The guy seemed really cool and had no problems with anything, I just want him to feel assured that nothing bad with come out of this situation. Thanks.

I would check into land owner liability, so you can sign a waiver releasing him from any obligations if you were to get injured on his property.

Would you plan on taking someone else in there? Make sure this is clear either way ahead of time.

Address Parking

Finally ask him if there is anything you can do to return the favor ( maybe you already have). Land owners usually like fresh venison jerky too! :D

shed33,

I already told him that it was just going to be me hunting there and what my car looks like. I also told him that if I come out I'll stop in and let him know I'm there. Obviously, he'll see my car but I just told him that so he knows its just me. And yes, I definitely planned on giving he and his family some venison.

Right on Mert, sounds like you're off on the right path. Now get out there before the vegetation gets too thick and get that 150 acresscouted a bit! Good luck, we'll be looking forward to hearing what you find out 'bout your new hunting area. Good Luck.

I think shed has you coverd. I think that a liability release will really make the landowner more comfortable with you being there. Let us know what you find about the new property!

You will just need to save it to your C-Drive and then enlarge it.
I hope it helps y'all.

Thanks gregholland,

That's a simple, easy to understand form. I've been worried about liability on our place since we let a lot of people hunt, and host a youth hunt.

Mert, to make the owner happy, under Notes you could state that only you will use the property (or you and up to one guest), and you could ask him if there is anything else he wouldn't like you doing (like hunting on Christmas), and put it in the Notes section.
