What is your record?

What is your personal record for animals in a season with a bow. Mine is still one. A doe my first year and a buck my second. Still working getting a shot on an elk.

RE: What is your record?

We're allowed two buck deer, but have only killed one each year. Hogs and other game pic up the slack. Good shootin Masterbuck, I don't see 15 shootable deer in one season let alone get to kill that many.

RE: What is your record?

I did manage to kill 4 deer with a bow a couple of years ago. I average around 2 a year with a bow.

We only get four tags in AR so last year after I had killed 3 deer in the first three days of the season I kinda let up

RE: What is your record?

Uhhh....The most tags I have ever had for one season has been 4...for this year. Last year I had 3 tags and shot 2 deer during bow....so I guess you could say I had a .66666% success rate...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: What is your record?

15 doe in a 6 week time span. It wouldnt be that bad other than the fact I had to drag evey one of them uphill around a mile or two. Made me go buy a quad for bowhunting.

RE: What is your record?

8 deer, six bucks, and two does. This was '98, I believe, in Md and NJ.

RE: What is your record?

I shoot one each year. It's all the venison that gets eaten in my household. I'm the only one who will eat it. My wife has some bad venison before we were married and won't even try it now. My kids are too influenced by their mother and Disney.

In the future I may start shooting two and giving one away, since my sister says she would like a little more.

Wahya:

Go to Alabama. That year alone, I saw over 1000 deer during hunting season. I hunted a lot, but still, that's a lot of deer. Overpopulation is a huge problem down there, and the bag limit of 2 deer a day every day of the season (Oct 15-Jan 31) still isn't enough. <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: What is your record?

My personal record is 2 bucks in one year. But I feel a more important record to consider and one I wanted to share is my hunting buddy's record. It was opening day of his first bow hunting season. (he hunted a few times the year before but not to any real extent). Well low and behold it's opening morning and wouldn't you know it he shoots a nice 6 pointer. We field dress the deer bring it to the butcher and head out for the afternoon hunt. Wouldn't you know he shoots an 8 pointer. I have to say I have never met anyone who shot 2 bucks on his first opening day with a bow. (by the way) He didn't shoot any this season. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

It taught him this bow hunting thing isn't so easy after all....

RE: What is your record?

Flip, I'll have to assume your hunting elsewhere since in NY, taking two antlered deer during bow season would not currently be legal.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

My personal record is one buck and although you can use management permits to take additional antlerless deer the last 2 weeks of the early archery season, I've never managed to connect.

RE: What is your record?

Actually, on Long Island you can take a buck and immediately be reissued another tag for another either sex deer for only $11.00. If you apply for doe tags you will get two doe permits and once you shoot a doe with one, they will reissue you another one. After you shoot another doe on the same tag they will issue you another either sex tag. If you shoot a buck with that then you are done.

Unless you begin using your other doe tag, in which case the rules mentioned above start over again. 2 does, then an either sex tag.

So, in summary, you can shoot quite a few in one season in Long Island NY. Unfortunately for my buddy he didn't have any doe permits because he didn't apply and his season ended the same day it began. Still not a bad first season though.

RE: What is your record?

2 cottontail rabbits in one day. Still haven't got any big game yet. Going for 3 days this weekend for a late archery hunt. Hopefully I will have some luck on my side since late season here is tough (the early season isn't all that easy either). But it gets me out of the city for 3 days and that's all that matters.

RE: What is your record?

15 deer? Doggone yall must have one heck of a ton of freezer space LOL!

masterbuck 01-16-2002 03:02 PM

RE: What is your record?

Lilhunter:

No, not a ton of freezer space. However, the &quot;Hunters for Hunger&quot; program benefitted greatly that year. Our game biologist under our QDM program told us we had to kill A LOT of does that year, due to major overpopulation problems. So, I did what I was told, kept the meat I wanted, and did my good deed by donating the rest to a worthy cause. 4 of the 15 were bucks (good shooter bucks), the other 11 were does.

Lilhunter 01-16-2002 03:04 PM

RE: What is your record?

right on, I know some places are a deer a day Al I think. Man just think about that for a minute, every single day you could shoot one. Man I would have to own a walk in freezer and eat meat 3 meals a day to pull it off and I bet there would still be some to give away LOL! Congrats man! Ya got any pics? Maybe make a collage of that yr <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

masterbuck 01-16-2002 03:08 PM

RE: What is your record?

Lilhunter, you want me to make you really squirm? In a lot of south Alabama where I hunt, the limit is not one deer a day. It's <font size=6>2</font id=size6> deer a day! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Unbelievable 2 deer a day and #'s of 8,10,15 for one person in a year!
Were allowed 1 a YEAR combined archery/gun. A couple districts had 2nd doe tag(archery only) for the first time this year. This past was our best year out of 19 guys I know, 18 tags were filled!

RE: What is your record?

the most in one day were 4 useing crop damage permits. the first 3 were killed within the first 10 minutes of first light. all have to be does when you use crop damage permits. all with a rifle (not that much fun)

1 Whitetail Buck 10 pt. P&Y- Ill., 1 Whitetail buck 6 point-Wis., 1 Mule deer buck 3x3 -Co, & 1 P&Y Black Bear 19&quot;. Could have shot more deer but held out for that TROPHY with the other tag & passed on many does. Now I am comfortable taking 1 nice deer in whatever state I hunt.

always thankful

Several years back I shot three on the same day with a bow in a driving snowstorm. I wore white camo and they couldn't see me;-)

A 6 point buck and a cow elk would be my best with a bow .
