I ride in my truck in my shorts and then change at the car, at least into my pants. Then I walk in, carrying most of my clothes. If I were you, and you only have 1/2 mile, I would scrap the ATV for scent reasons, unless you have a long walk after you get off the ATV. Even when it is cold, I try to wear as little as possible when walking to avoid sweating.

It's a tough call.....deciding what you CAN and CAN'T getaway with wearing without sweating......taking into account your hike and how much gear you're hauling around (and what your physical condition is). I struggle with this, all season.

I put on my undergarments at home and then wear some coveralls that I have treated/washed like my hunting clothes to help eliminate scent, and then remove the coveralls and put on outer hunting clothing when at my hunting site.

I wear what ever I am goin to wear while hunting. I don't worry about it at all. I set up in stand locations that are favorable to the wind that day. I have had deer come from the opposite direction and things still worked out. I do store the clothes in a plastic container but that is just to keep them all together. I put them on in my house and drive out to where I hunt.

Sometimes people make this way more difficult than it has to be. My results speak for themselves, I have killed many many deer from does to P&Y bucks, as well as all other types of game animals. I have killed them with my firearms and bow and have been doing it for many years now. All this talk about scent lock this and driving to my hunting spot in your skivies that, is all very amusing to me. Some go as far as to store their clothes in plastic sealed tubs or put leaves and dirt in with them or them little wafer deals that are earth scented....it's a hoot!
Me, I like to keep things simple, I hang my hunting coats and bibs on a bar under my basement stairs in the unfinished utility room. The rest of the clothes go in a plastic cabinet I purchased from Home Depot.
Works for me....I don't see the problem....I really don't

I agree that the steps some have listed are positive........ I just don't believe it helps as much asthey think it does. For all the trouble some go through with their clothes, I feel it would be time better spent watching the wind, their entry and exit routes to and from their stands or hunting spotsas well as stand placement, but that's just me.
Iwash my hunting stuffwith scent free detergent and dry them in the dryer. Then Istore them upas pictured.I will spray myself down with some type of scent blocker (whatever is on sale) before I head into the woods but that's it.
To each their own I guess. Still, I can't help but get a chuckle when I read what some are doing just to get dressed to go hunt.

I guess them east coast deer are smarter than these Illinois deer cuz they don't seem to mind my smell. Perhaps my natural effervesents is too aluring for them to stop themselves.
BTW back in the day (when I was still playing) I ran a 4.88 40yd and even though I have had three knee surgeries since, I think I can still motor if I need to......I just don't know for how long I would be good for. I'd probably have a "grabber" after about 10 seconds.

I wear anti micro fibral long under wear (which gets washed at least weekly during hunting season) while driving to my hunting spot with flip flops on. When I get there I get my camo bibs and boots on and store my hat and jacket in my pack til I am on stand, all these clothes are stored in a big plastic container from Wal-Mart with white oak leaves and bark. No ATV riding, it's too loud and smelly.
