HuntingNet.com Forums - Who is the Average Hunter?

I will tell you what the average hunter is NOT, at least in my area. He/she is not someone you would meet on this type of board. The average hunter in my area does not spend time on the internet discussing things about hunting with other hunters and trying to learn or help others. Heck many of the hunters I know don't even have the internet, and if they do they are fairly clueless how it works.

I would say the people you meet here are above average hunters, even if they are not as successful. They are at least making the effort to learn as much as they can or are willing to share their experience with others.

All the information you could ever need about hunting, archery and guns is right here at your fingertips. I would say the defining factors in success among us would be ambition and location.

I could be a much better hunter than I am, as far as the amount of game I take. But to be honest I am just not as passionate about it as others are. It is not at the top of my priority list I guess. It's something I enjoy, but not something I will put before other things. I also have very limited places to hunt since I can't afford to pay for a lease and that is all the rage now.

Actually now that I think about it the average hunter is changing. It is becoming someone that can afford to hunt or owns good land. Not a person that is passionate about it and lives for it. I fear very soon hunting will revert back to a rich mans sport and not a means of survival for the common man.
