i think no matter almost where you hunt there is at least one mature buck in the heard. he gets mature by staying away from dangers. sounds elementary, but answers the ?to the best of my knowledge.

I hunt western maryland and to answer the question no! Mature bucks are far and few betwen! Simply because if anyone else hunts here they also know that Maryland hunting regulations SUCK!

Spoken like a man who has a large chunk to hunt or unpressured deer. [8D]

West Central Illinois, many many mature bucks. Considering some 2.5 year olds are pushing pope and young it makes it a blast.

Actually David, Both! But more the first than the later, some of our property butts up to public land so there is quite a bit of pressure around us, especially when the rifle season rolls around.

note: EDIT is because i can't type tonight.

There are mature bucks almost everywhere but naturally the more pressured areas will hold more. In fact I know where several mature bucks stay, problem is I can't gain access to hunt most of them. But somebody does.

Cougar, I think you mean the "LESS PRESSURED" areas will hold more.
