The 3D challenge

I would like to challenge everyone who has never shot a 3D course before to give it a shot this year. I guarantee you will have a blast. Theres not much better than shooting the bows and hanging out with your buds / familyon a cool summer morning.

Just be careful.... It can be very addicting [8D]

What about laying up on a beach blanket with a hot chick and some Coronas? Wake me up. I forgot I live in Kansas. Yea 3D shoots are fun.

I agree. It's A LOT of fun.....Too bad Dan won't be able to find out......:D:D

I'll be going to my first of the year the 14th....I can't wait....I'll shoot a few others as I can find them, they are pretty scarce around here anymore, then it's off the world qualifier in June.....HOPEFULLY after that, it'll be ibo worlds in Indiana early August...

RE: The 3D challenge

Yea ... shooting at 3D targets is a blast , I enjoy shooting my bow so much that I was shooting in a five spot league , now a vegas league , I even signed up to shoot a 3D league for 12 weeks.
I think shooting 3D targets is a fun way to practice and to sharpen your shooting skills , helps keep you in top form.
By the time achery deer season comes , you'll be a more confident shooter and you'll be able to judge range alot more easyer.
I'm with the buckeyebuckhntr on this 3D challenage , for those who never shot a 3D range or course , you need to try it.
For those who are planing on being in the June 3D smackdown at the HNI get together , you better get to those 3D range's and practice if you think you have a chance at beating me. :)

RE: The 3D challenge

Yep it can be fun for sure.......especially at first but if you have a competitive streak like I do, 3D archery can be a slippery slope. LOL:D

I am actually trying to back away from serious competition because it really is a lot of precision work, and have started shooting 3D with a longbow and soon to be custom recurve.Suddenly 3D and shooting in general has become much more fun for me.
Don't get me wrong I still enjoy some serious high end competition but that side of it for me has become a bit like work and it can become just sooooooo mechanical.
16 full rounds already this season with the compound, and lots of success but my favorite round of the year was a 30 target courseI shot last weekwith my buddy Frank and my longbow.

It's a nice mental break to shoot at both ends of the archery world. I havesome accomplishments shooting compounds, and I think I'm going to try and challenge myself to do the same with traditional gear in the near future.

shot a 20 target asa rules shoot sat, and a 30 target club shoot on sunday. jamie's now shooting with me and that's great. she's getting good fast.i absolutely love it. its so fun to be in the woods w/ others that love shooting. there are so many good shooters, so much to learn, and so many helpful folks.

matt, if you quit sandbagging in hunter advanced it would be tougher LOL.

Where you Shoot at Buckeye?? I've never shot 3d at all.

RE: The 3D challenge

I've shot in 5, all local club shoots. In 2, last year, I didn't place. Finished 2, 1, 2 in the three, this year. If they would hold more shoots.....I'd shoot more.:)

To keep from getting TOO competitive, I promised myself I wouldn't do anything to my bow that changed it from my pure hunting rig. I haven't.

There's a big one I want to go to......but it's on the weekend I'm hosting a friend to turkey hunt. I've got my priorities straight!

How about if we take the hot chick to the shoot and depending on how well she does there... enjoy the coronas later. I'm down for that.

And yes, try 3D. Thanks buckeye.

Gibblet......LOL If you think any of the guys in MBR are sandbagging![:-]
Seriously , it's not a Hunter class....She's a big boy class, long stakes / fixed pins but everything goes on arrows and stabilizers.

Trust me the Hunter class guys aren't shooting at 40yd turkeys, 44yd Alligators or a 48yd Blackbuck.
;)
My nerves can't take it anymore. LOL:D

(In all fairness to the Hunter Class guys, that's no cake walk either......to be successful you need to beat about 8 million guys at any shoot and do it with a rediculous X-count. Its a tough class to win in)

RE: The 3D challenge

I dunno Scott, I've tried shooting 3d before, and I just can't get into it. I'd rather spend 10 minutes in the yard shooting the bag and the rest of the afternoon in the woods. I just can't get into competitive archery for some reason.

There are two reasons that I really don't go for it: 1. - The "bow shop crowd" seems to linger at the 3d shoots, and the B.S. is a mile deep, and I personally know most of those guys haven't killed a deer in archery season since the dawn of time. Just not my scene. Then, these are the same guys who I swear dedicate their lives to figuring out where you're hunting and invading your hunting spots, so you wind up telling some huge lie about how you haven't seen any deer in the woods since the Reagan administration. 2. - I only get so much free time, and I dedicate all of it to time in the woods, in the fields glassing, or in the car spotting.

I guess I just like the "being in the woods" aspect of hunting a whole lot more than the "shooting" aspect. Weird I know.

Nelson Ledges, Mosquito Bowmen, Trumbull Rod and Gun andLake Milton are the local shoots we go to most........ If we could pry you away from the golf clubs sometime we could meet up for a shoot and finally introduce ourselves.

We shoot mostly sunday mornings, but Nelson Ledges is open on weekday evenings now as well.

Everyone tells me I should shoot one. Too many other activities, too little time. And really the idea never appealed to me.

i'm only teasing you cause you're so good matt. we have a lot of guys here thatshould be shooting open A or pro - but their ego's won't let them go a year getting the 42-52 yard shots worked out from each other.i'm sure you know what i mean.
