Different season dates?

I've always wondered why I go from being a stealthy, respectful, well manneredbowhunter on one day and a slob, trespassing, unethical gun hunter the next. Something about wearing orange turns me into a downright ruthless outlaw.

It's not the type of weapon that 'makes' a hunter, it's the man shooting it.

i hunt with a gun and a bow.(bow 10 yrs and gun 16 years)..i enjoy both....it takes a better hunter to kill a nice buck with a bow on a regular basis. just think of how many times while bow hunting a nice buck has come up to about 60 yards and out of range for a bow.

If i shoot a 140 class with a gun i am almost as happy as if i had used a bow.

Now for those who say gun hunting is cheating or too easy.....well MOST of those people probably dont have anything on the wall to begin with.

Well said coyote. The only difference is what is being carried.

I hunt both ways. Both are just as fun and exciting to me. They each have their own excitingadvantages.
I have gone home many times empty handed while rifle hunting, but just being out there is all that really matters, so I don't really think there is a difference for me in the enjoyment factor.

That's a great response. We are all hunters. I do both and love to do both. Archery lets you sit in the woods earlier in the year and watch the squirrels act like nuts. For me a solitary thing that lets me get away from it all. Rifle is usually more of a group thing with family. Both have merits. Both are hunting.

My response was to this.

ORIGINAL: cr422

ORIGINAL: greenboy

it takes a real man with true grit too kill deer at 40 yards and less.
You might want to rethink that. My daughter, who is 16, a little less than four foot eight, and about 73 pounds, got her first deer day after Christmas with a 28 lb bow from about 15 yards. (No minimum draw weight in Michigan, fortunately.) How's that for manliness?

I think overall bowhunting is harder because the animal has to be closer than 50 yards. Gun hunting is also hard but its not as much of a challenge.
