While you were sitting around at the show today nursing a hangover I was out finding bone. OK, not so much me but Nikki sure did find a pile. It's really too bad that we could not have grabbed these any sooner. We're going back tomorrow afternoon to see if we missed any.
First find, a huge old shed. Had it not been chewed I think it would have easily cleared 80". Maybe a little disappointed. A little photoshop job, but this is what I think it would have looked like had I been a few years sooner. That was the only shed I found. Nikki did the rest of the work. Here she is with her first for the evening, third for the day. Maybe fifty yards later, she comes up with this one, a nice 5 point. Then we had to leave this one behind. It's still frozen into the ground and possibly attached to a skull. And then she hit paydirt with this old bruiser. This shed has about a 12" brow tine! We walk another hundred yards or so, and she comes up with a shed from the same buck, but a year previous! The day's totals. |

I HATE YOU GUYS! Ok - actually, I loved talking with both of you and was really happy to have met you guys at the show! That's probably the best part of hitting all these shows - we've met so many cool people that it totally makes all the long days (and nights!) worth it! That is a massive pile of bone! You guys found more sheds in a day than I've found in about 80 hours so-far! Too cool man! You have to keep me posted as-to what else you guys find!
Kyle and I are heading out today for a half-day walk, and heading to Illinois early tomorrow to meet Andy and a couple other buddies for a full day walk - one last hoo-rah so-to-speak. I'm determined to find at least one nice piece of bone this year! My team members (and you guys) are making me look really friggen bad eh! he he he.... That's shed hunting for you. If you would like to read more about my shed season (or lack there of) check out my latest journal entry. http://www.huntingnet.com/fieldjournal/fieldjournal_detail.aspx?nID=633 Please keep in-touch guys - I want you filming for me in the future! |

Kyle and I just got back from a walk - I'd say shed hunt, but when you don't find SQUAT, there isn't much else to call it!
It was an awesome day today though, so just getting outside down here in SE Iowa was a blast regardless of what we find (or didn't find in this case). Thanks for all the comments guys and girls! |

Todd, you sound surprised that you didnt' find any bone. You should know better! You're in Iowa man, Land of the Giants. Should be no problem.
Nikki and I went for another two hour hike here tonight with hopes of finding matches to the "gaggers" that we picked up yesterday. No luck on the mates, but we did find two dinks. My season is just 'bout done as far as shedding is concerned. I did manage to get permission on another three incredible pieces of property though! Can't wait 'til this Fall. Turkey season is just around the corner, and I hope to get some of that action on film. I won't have my new Canon then, but it will be good practice if nothing else. Your DVD surprised me. White Knuckle Productions is the real deal. Keep up the good work, and keep in touch. |

Dude, thanks for the feedback man! I greatly appreciate it!
I think I'm calling my shed season, but had probably as good a time hanging out with my buddies not finding anything, than finding stuff while alone! That's the beauty of sharing the hunt with team members - you share the excitement! Other than that - It's time to get to work to bring WKP the world! he he he.... Keep in-touch man! |
