Good head?

I have listened to people talk about this broadhead and that one----This is the best that sucks---Mechs are the sh*t....no, use Cut on contact........BLA....BLA.....BLA....! I'm SICK OF IT!
I use mechanical Rocket Sidewinder 100 grain with 100% success out of my McPH Hornet at 70#...I trust them! Holes you can put your hand in!! You can't beat that Pathfinder tip!
My Dad shoots a 165# Horton X- bow with carbon bolts...125 grain 2 blade Spifires with 100% success.
I have tried many heads over the years..The worst being Satilite Titans...they really SUCK! NAP Shockwaves are a close second!
Don't get me wrong, 15 of you, my closest friends, will DISAGREE and say I'm NUTS....But, that's my point. Because I have had a bad episode with one head, 5 of you got perfect passes and a blood trail like a landing strip.
Just post your horror stories with brand name and weight and we'll tally the results!! I'm sure there will be a pattern!!!

RE: Good head?

I am currently using NAP spitfires 100 grain, three blade broadheads and have had excellent results with them.
I have also used Rocket Sidewinders with great results. Mechanical broadheads have come a long way in the last few years.
When I first started bowhunting, everyone was talking about PUNCHCUTTERS and PUCKETTS BLOOD TRAILERS, yes you could get good groups with them but as far as penetration they sucked. They would actually come apart if they hit bone.
With the introduction of high speed bows that shoot over 300fps, we needed a broadhead that would not windplane, and the archery manufactuers came up with something that had devastating results on large game and you could also get good groups with.
As with any broadhead, fixed blade or mechanical you still need to make good shot placement on any animal. To make a long story short I am totally confident with my mechanicals, because I only take high percentage shots, at broadside or quartering away animals.
When I put the pin on the deers vitals and touch the trigger on the ol Scott release, they can put their heads between their legs and kiss their a$$ goodbye because they are going to the deepfreeze.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of your thread. You start by saying "I'm SICK OF IT!" and then go on to say that NAP shockwaves are the second ("close second") worst head you've used. "they really SUCK!"

What exactly are you sick of Did someone make a comment concerning a bad experience about a broadhead that you personally like? I'm sure there are plenty of bowhunters who will disagree bigtime with your opinion of shockwaves. I may be wrong , but I see this thread as another my broadhead is better than yours thread. Is'nt that what your "SICK OF"?

RE: Good head?

I have only used 3 different brands of heads 2 of which are Australian made. The Ribtecks and Black Stumps with no bad results.
Now since I cant get them here I am using Muzzy 3 blade 100's again with no bad results well unless you are the game I am aiming at then you find the hit results bad

Aussie by birth Texan by choice

I think 5 SHOT has gone above and beyond on
this subject with all the tests, etc.I think
that this belongs on another forum and every
one is entitled to his feelings on different
types of equipment but that is what this site
is about sharing in a profesional manner and
enjoying each others input!

Great Post [/b]Bowfanatic[/b] and besides, who wants to hear more horror stories....I'm sick of them....besides, like mentioned above, 5Shot covered the broadhead testings....the results speak for themselves and who needs opinions when we have results.

RE: Good head?

NAP SHOCKWAVE has given me my fastest cleanest kill yet...AND on a marginally hit animal...Not sure what sucks about them...the blades open faster than any mech head I have tried to date. And are VERY tough.

RE: Good head?

I started this thread because I am curious as to wich heads will show up more + or -! I know 5 shot has taken most of the guess work out of durability, but, NOTHING is like real muscle , hide, and bone!
I am not 'brand" loyal....If something works well, I am a lemming! On the same token, I am picky as hell! I would like to hear what the individuals have to say about products. The average bowhunter will tell it like it is, and not pull any punches!
If I have done anything wrong, sorry guys, I'm usually out in the woods instead of pecking these hard to find keys. Mama just droped a litter (twins) and I've got a little extra time inside this year! I didn't mean to step on anyones toes or get any panties in a bunch!!
