Default .019, .029 or .040 sights

so right now i have a tru-glo sights and have the .040 (came with sight) for 20 and 30 pin..then i have .019 for remainder of pins out to 60 yards....most shooting will be early morning and late evening... i have been shooting at those times and the .019 does fine..

my question is do you guys think it would be better to use the .029 for 20 and 30? Right now it is very weird when i am shooting to see two huge dots then 3 little ones..granite i shoot fine at a target, when i get to a live animal it may be different...what size do you guys use that shoot most animals at dawn or dusk?

Thanks,
Josh

To be honest, I've gotten to the point where I can't shoot with anything larger than .019, they just cover too much of the target. Personally I like the .010's on my Sword sight, I really like them at 50 and 60 yards.

Right now I have my 20 and 30 with .019 and the rest at .010. This is the first time I've varied the sizes and I really like it. On my Spot Hogg the pins will all be .019. I'd just play with it a little and see what you like, for me I'm going to use the smallest pin I can that will still pick up adequate light in all situations.

Yeah i agree with DWD...i perfer the smaller ones so you can see more of the target. I will be shooting a sword with .19 and .10 this year

Other than the name on the site...(I shoot a Viper).....my set up is exactly the same.

There's the old saying "Aim small, miss small." I know it's from the Patriot, but my dad used to say that to me long before Mel Gibson said it. Anyway, the smaller your aiming point the smaller the margin of error. I'd go as small as you're comfortable with.

thanks guys really appreciate the help

wish tru-glo had a .010 sight, but .019 is smallest....will probably end up using that for all pins or switch first two pins to .029 then .019 for rest of them...

For HUNTING there is no nead for anything smaller than .029. You just increase the odds of damage and not seeing them in low light if you use the .019.The whole reason we have the craze of bright pins is so we can see the .019 in a hunting situation BUT when the pins are that bright, they create a halo effect and are even harder to be pin point accurate with.My pins are not overly bright but I can see them on a tree well after legal shooting time.I am comfortable out to 50+ yards with them in a hunting situation.

Check out the outdoor target rigs, they do not have the overly bright pins on them. Most will use a small blue light that will shine on them in an extreme case where they can't be seen.I NEVER needed a light outdoors with my .019 pins.(but I wasn't hunting at dusk)I did use one indoor. If I were to get back into competition,I would probably use the .010 pins, the smaller the better for targets but not needed in a hunting situation IMO.

I know this is 180 degrees of what most people are into today so take it for what it is worth.
