Hey, I like this board!
 

Here I was thinking I was already a member of every bowhunting board out there. I was wrong. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gary Dowdy, I'm sure some here have seen me around before on some of the other boards. I'm the bowhunting editor for Boar Hunter Magazine, and all around archery fanatic! I'm currently working on bringing an archery program to the state of Georgia like the one they have in the great state of Kentucky. Jennie Richardson and Roy Grimes of the KY dept. of fish and wildlife have been a tremendous help! Now, here in GA, I'm working with the good folks at Muzzy,and IBO rep. Tom Watson to bring a similiar program to the school children of Georgia. The Kentucky program, "On target for life" has been very sucessful there. Many other states are wanting similiar programs for there schools. I'd like to ask everyone here to push to have archery programs brought to there school systems as well. The future of archery and bowhunting could depend on it! Share the joy with a child.

This is the best bowhunting board on the net. A lot of old crotchity grumps with nothing better to do than sit in front of their computer and hassle and bash each other's opinions on hunderds of meaningless topics no one really cares about. LOL No really. This board has some of the best, most knowledgable hunters on it that I've seen. I'm a member of different boards too but none compare to this one.

KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL.

GaryDowdy. I somehow missed the part about mechanical broadheads. What do you have against them other than the fact that you are from Georgia, where they happen to make Muzzys. I have used Muzzys in the past and I would still use them if I could get them to fly like my fieldpoints.But I cant.
When I first started bowhunting I was shooting a bow that shot 250fps and getting good groups with fixed blade broadheads was fairly simple. Now that I am shooting over 300fps I cant get the same groups.
If I was knowledgeable enough about tuning bows as some of you are I would still shoot fixed blade broadheads because I think they are more reliable with marginal hits.
But I think mechanicals are more than adequate if you take only high percentage shots and hit what you are shooting at.
Isnt accuracy the most important thing.

Accuracy and shealthy quietness are my favorite traits for a hunting bow. The Jan/Feb issue of Boar Hunter Magazine ( Ijust o.k.ed my article for print ) I have an article entitled:&quot; The business end of your arrow- Broad heads part1. I go into detail on types of broad heads, pros/cons, define F.O.C., give formula for calculating Kenetic energy, and go into detail on broad head tuning. I won't use anything but fixed bladed broad heads. I won't beat a dead dog here, we all have our reasons for shooting what we shoot. Yes, I do shoot Muzzy!

Welcome to the board good to have more people like you join us sounds like you are doing some good things down there. We need to get kids involved so that we can continue this great sport. I have taken my son out since he was 8 yrs old and I think that the outdoors has helped him grow and mature into a great young man he is now 28 and we still hunt and fish together and love every sec. of the quality time we get to spend together. I'm not trying to be yours either Gary. In fact, I'd have to bet you have lots to add to these forums. Your other thread was informative without the sales pitch. This one on the other hand started out like advertisement for Bore Magazine. I believe Scrape Juice was, and is still a sponser over at that other site you speak of. Big difference. Were we cyberslapped there too?

So please, continue to share your thoughts and opinions with us here at HuntingNet. If I agree or disagree with them I'll be sure and let you know. I'm not translating anything for the members here. I've been encouraged(as many others were) to plug Srape Juice at Bowsite. Many of us dropped it when I started getting a negative response. Some people will change their screen name and plug it thereselves, though. I apologize if I came off as an a**!

You guys are funny! You kill me. I'm on Scrape Juice's prostaff, myself. I've had a positive reaction from smaller bucks and does. On occasion the deer just ignore it. I have had one occurance w/ a large buck, but some how, I blew it! He was huge! G2's look like they were 14&quot; or so, monsterous! I cannot prove it had anything to do with the scent, though. I was using a Primos Can call as well.
