s-coil
is the simms s-coil THAT good?? i see more of you guys putting them on 600+$ BARE bows than i would ever thought. if you guys got 750$ to put into a bare bow why put a 15$ stabilizer on? is it THAT good?? im not knocking anyone by any means..please dont think that..i know putting 750$ into a bare bow means your getting a dang good bow that should be pretty shock free/quiet/balanced etc..andthats simply alot of change to put down for a bow period
but was just curious..are they that good or what? i want a better stabilizer on my Highlander. i was going to go with a Fuse axiom. just seems like they combined all the best things into 1 stab. but if the s-coil is just as good why waste the money?? right now i shoot with NAP shock blocker. truthfully i dont think it does much for shock. i like the weight though...helps recoil. but id like the ultimate sound and shock reducing stab. and a bit of wieght. fill me in.... |
RE: s-coil
These $750 bows don't need anything else.
The S-Coil works excellent compared to the more expensive models available. They work better for vibration and sound dampening than actuallybalancing the bow. They're not really heavy, so if you're looking for balance I wouldn't reccomend it. Would so many people be buying and using them if they didn't work well? |
RE: s-coil
i figured the expensive bows didnt need much...thats understandable..
and for 15-20$ people will use them just for the price lol...thats why im asking. i might go with an s-coil with a mini doinker or one of the modulars simms makes..get a little more leghnt, weight, and more vib/sound killers..i dont know... gimme some recomendations! im just looking to really kill sound and vibration and give me enough weight and legnth to balance it..at the shot w/o my shock blocker i know the bow kicks a good bit.. |
RE: s-coil
Honestly, from what you're looking for in a stabalizer I would recommend a Stealth. A little more expensive, but I think you would be happier with one of those rather than the S-Coil. The S-Coil just doesn't have the weight I think you're looking for.
|
RE: s-coil
Just cause something is expensive doesn't mean it works better. To me, and S coil is a very economical and effective stabilizer. Doesn't matter if its going on 800$ bow or a $200 bow if it works it works.

RE: s-coil
If you are looking for both a weight and shock eliminating stabilizer, then you may want to consider the Doinker 7" Hunter camo. I have one on my Black Ice and really like it. The bow doesnt have a lot of shock to begin w/, but w/o the Doinker you definately notice a difference. It was pretty cheap too, I think I payed $20-25 at Gander Mtn. heres some pics.

RE: s-coil
thanx guys...i heard about the stealth but didnt look into them. that looks like a good option and designed well. price aint tooo bad either. keep the advice coming....i think stabilizers are one of the less thought of accessories..but can be pretty important and helpful.
Z..you sure that was only 20-25$? all the doinkers are expensive i though..was it on sale?? rybo..i know expensive doesnt always mean better...thats why i posted this...we ALL want the best performance for the money... |
RE: s-coil
No sale, that was the price. If you have trouble finding one I could always pic you up one and mail it your way. Just pm me and let me know. I am thinking of taking a trip to Gander in the next week or so. just say the word.

RE: s-coil
The S-coil is a great stabilizer, awsome bang for the buck. I dont have one just because I like a little more weight so I have a Fuse Axium. I have shot several bows with the s-coils and they do awsome. My fiance has one oh her set up, parker micro pheonix.
|
RE: s-coil
They do the same thing as an $80 Fuse one for a 1/4 of the price. I have one on my Old Glory and it is great for sound and vibration, very little of which is needed.

RE: s-coil
Experiment this summer. I have an experiment tray that probably has 500.00 worth of crap in it. But what I mean, is that a heavy stabilizer for 3D is probably a good idea, but for hunting, ditch all the extra weight that you can.I use a tranquilizer, it is light and works. But as well as I know my name, I am going to buy an s coil and try it.

RE: s-coil
thanx guys.
Z thanx for the offer...i appriciate that..mighty kind of you..i got a gander in the area.. KS..i dont want to fill a box with 500$ of experiments..thats why i posted...one day im sure i will have a box of stuff i tried out...im sure my Shock Blocker will be in there...but right now being in college and only working a couple months a year i just want to put my money where its needed...the stabilizer is LAST on the list. if all i buy this summer is string and cables and new arrows i will be fine..my bow works..but a new rest and sites are also on the list.. do you guys think if i took my to the shop they would let me test stabilizers if they knew i was willing to buy and pay the range fee?? that may be an option for me...we all know all bows are diffrent. the Highlander is my first bow..and only bow ive shot...for all i know it IS quiet and shock free...i dont know..thats the problem..hmm |
RE: s-coil

RE: s-coil
I use the MiniS-Coil, only 3 1/2".Just for extra dampening, not thatthe Vectrixreally needs it.;)I like it because it won't hang me up on things.

id get the FUSE you were talking about

RE: s-coil
I used Doinkers and they are good stabilizers but then bought an S-Coil and was very impressed with it. I couldn't believe how good my bow felt with that cheap stabilizer. I lost it and bought a Vibracheck, which is also a good one but I wouldn't say it was better than the S-Coil. The SC is light but my bow feels well balanced without a stabilizer so it was fine in that area. Nice to see you can still buy good products at a decent price.
|
RE: s-coil
Your shop should let you try one out for free, thats what I did. I tried all kinds out an the S-Coil felt the best for my set up so thats what I got! Good luck!

ORIGINAL: early in I use the MiniS-Coil, only 3 1/2".Just for extra dampening, not thatthe Vectrixreally needs it.;)I like it because it won't hang me up on things. Hey early, just wondering... what rest are you using? |
RE: s-coil
dang goherd..they sure are on sale!!
now...the 7 inch or the 4 inch?? i was thinking if the 4 inch was drilled and tapped i could add a mini s-coil to the end of it. may look funny..but that would probably be DEADLY. or just go with the 7 inch?? really cant pass it up for that price! anyone know if the 4 inch is drilled and tapped? what would you guys do??? |
RE: s-coil
I reeaaalllyy don't like my s-coil. Granted, I'm shooting an older Hoyt TenacityII that is pretty noisy and violent.
I ditched the s-coil and made my own. It's basically a 3"x1" cylinder filled 3/4 of the way with mercury. It really dampened the shock and seems to be quieter too. |
RE: s-coil
I got one just because a lot of people I know have one (peer pressure is a motha):D, glad I did. After I had it awhile I decided to try shooting my bow without just to see if it really did make a difference. Long story short, I ended up shooting one of the worst groups of my life. Threw the S- Coil back on and I was back on target. It balances my bow a lot better which really improves my accuracy. It's probably all in my head but hey, what ever helps ya.
|
RE: s-coil
Wash hit the nail on the head. It works great on my Guardian even though i really dont need it and it worked great on my V-tec which was just as quiet as the Guardian. Its in my opinion that because the technology in bows are making them quieter then ever before, a stablizer is more about creating perfect balance in your handrather then quieting down a loud bow.
