RE: Who still has tags?
In TN we can keep getting tags as long as we keep checking the deer-provided you don't go over certain limits. We can take a lot of deer here, though. I'm just now starting to do my small part towards population control.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Who still has tags?
I can't believe I'm even writing this, but I got every tag I purchased when I bought my license in August! I took 23 days off from work, plus my normal wknd days off, and hunted every stinkin one of them. My season started with early bow in end of Sept. It ends this coming wknd with late Archery or Muzzleloader here in NY. I've been hunting for almost 20yrs, and only went skunked one other time before. I saw a bunch of deer on & off during archery seasons. I did pass on a small doe with a nursing fawn early on, and later a small spike. So I could've, but I don't have any regrets passing them. They'll be more fun next season if survived. I came close few other times during the rut, but no cigar! It just seems strange I haven't taken a deer, and in fact no one in my family has gotten a deer, and my brothers hunt almost as hard as I do. I guess its just the way it goes some yrs. Weather here in Ny didn't make it the best of hunting either later on. I hunted on several rainy days, sleet, snow, freezing rain, and some high winds. I got one last chance this wknd, but my hopes are not very high. But I don't quit until I hear the fat lady singing!!

RE: Who still has tags?
I still have the 2 that I bought before the bow opener the first weekend of October. We also still have 10 antlerless nuisance permits for the farm where I'm living. I also have permission to hunt some property that falls into one of Ohio's special "urban zones". I believe I could get 4 special antlerless urban permits for that property. So that makes 16 tags that I could still fill this season. But I don't care, I just want to fill ONE!! I've spent 28 days in the woods so far this year and have seen a ton of deer but few within range. Early in the season I passed up a 10 yard shot at a doe because she had 2 young fawns with her. I think if I see her again soon she'll be in the freezer. I still have until Jan. 31st so I should be able to fill at least one tag by then.

RE: Who still has tags?
Well let us see, I used one antlerless tag, I still have three either sex tags and if I need more doe tags it is all of two dollars for two, and I can buy all I need.

RE: Who still has tags?
I've filled one antlerless tag and one archery "any deer" tag so currently I still have one antlerless tag left. However I'm debating on picking up another archery or Mz "any deer" tag just in case a buck walks by. Bow and Mz season ends at the end of the year and there is a late rifle season for my antlerless tag if needed. Last year we did go into that late rifle season with three antlerless tags to fill. Fortunately three does were taken the first morning. Both my hunting partners are skunked so I'll be trying my best to assist them in filling their freezer.

RE: Who still has tags?
I have a couple metro antlerless tags left, would like to fill one of them if possible. But there are 2 others I have left I'd like to fill even more, my non-resident Illinois tags. My buddy and I are headed back down to Pike county on the 26th for a few more days of trying and fill them. Hopefully find a good buck to bring home.

RE: Who still has tags?
I still have my Illinois non-resident buck tag left. I was going back out there for another 8 days on 12/28. But since I am too clumsy to walk down the steps on my deck without falling down, I may not make it back out!<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Who still has tags?
Yea, I still have one Missouri tag left. I took one for the freezer earlier in the season and am still hunting hard.
Both of my Illinois non-resident tags have yet to be filled. But I am not finished up there yet either, I plan on going back and trying to take a good buck, but if I dont I can always try and take a doe or two because I made a promise to myself not to shoot anymore young bucks because they are not what I spend $300 for an Illinois tag for. I have passed up more deer this year than any year I can remember and dont have any regrets whatsoever. I have had a great time and thats all that counts. But I would like to have one more for the freezer, and with a month left I am hopeful that I can get one. But if I dont, I have some buddies with freezers full of venison and they dont lock their doors.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> |
RE: Who still has tags?
Filled the tags I had got a smaller 5 point in the first bow season then we took a doe during the gun season that is enough to fill the freezer up for this year. I will leave the rest out there to grow for another year.Practice and Be SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Who still has tags?
I still have my bow tag which is the only deer seoson open still. I have until 1/07 to fill it but i am not worried because i already got 2 in the gun season and one of them was 200+ lbs and the other was well over 150 lbs.

RE: Who still has tags?
I do ,I still have 6 doe tags left.Aint going to fill them, just supports the PGC.Maybe one ,if I can catch up to the white deer
|
RE: Who still has tags?
Let's see, I have 3 in the freezer and can take 12, so I have 9 left, 1 of which can be a buck and it must have at least 4 points on one side since I took a 5 point earlier.

RE: Who still has tags?
All of my three archery tags were filled as of November 16. I have a gun permit that I can take on buck with but to tell you the truth, I have no patience when it comes to gun hunting. I don't know why. I have not even been in the woods during gun season this year. No late bow hunting for me either since all the tags are filled. I'll just have to sit on my hands (whats what my wife makes my seven year old do when he gets impatient) and wait till next year.

RE: Who still has tags?
I've filled 5, and still have 5. Looking forward to some late muzzleloading, and bowhunting.
Hey Bob, that will probably work to your advantage in the long run! I know my wife would rather I stay at home sitting on my hands right now too....by this point in the season, her patience is wearing a little thin... <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> I can't complain, I guess...I've been out quite a bit<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Edited by - WV Hunter on 12/11/2002 09:28:01 |
RE: Who still has tags?
LOL WV Hunter. Sometimes I think though that she'd rather me be out hunting. You should see me in the off season waiting for the next season.

RE: Who still has tags?
Bob, LOL...I know exactly what you are talking about! Come Oct....she says "good lord, you're already starting to rut...I can't wait till hunting season is over"...and it hasn't even begun yet!!! Longest 3 months of a non-hunting wife's life, I think.
All I can say to that is ....good thing I'm not as obsessed with football as I am with hunting <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I'd probably be living alone if I was.... |
