RE: Do older deer become harder to kill?

Here's what someone I know had to say about the subject......

My perspective is if he was dumb enough to kill last year then killing him next year is no more accomplishment. I know that is a foundation of many people who think this way.........passing on deer year after year and then killing them one day and proclaiming what an unhuntable mature beast he was.........when the truth is he should and would have been dead a long time ago if it weren't for all the free passes he got.

Just to let you know

Very good thought and well put!

That's right everyone.........Jeff made this whole thread so he could post a quote by me.......He actually started a much more insulting thread at the time I posted this but it was quickly deleted by the mods.

You have some serious issues man........and I mean that. You are in your 40's and you have spent the better part of the last year obsessing about me and stalking me in an internet hunting forum (anyone can do a search on my threads over the last year and see for themselves)........you send me (and other members) threatening PM's and carry on day after day about how everyone is "talking about you"???

Get some help man........it's time for a SERIOUS reality check in your life.

Jeff
I just purchased a great book at the Ill deer classic, hunting trophy white tails in the real world by Don Higgins. It has some real good info about a bucks memory and ways to hunt the mature boys. Im only half way thru it and already looking at things different. Just thought you might be interested.

Was it you who said this? I couldn't really remember....but thanks for clearing it up. And I have no idea what "other thread" you're talking about.

I don't totally disagree with you by the way.....but it's an interesting debate topic.

RE: Do older deer become harder to kill?

The big thing....in "MY" mind that we have to remember.....is that a mature buck has beaten just about ALL the odds. He's avoided hunters.....cars....predators......etc...etc...etc ...

The very fact that he IS mature is enough to make him harder to kill.....because he's more rare than his younger counterparts.

BUT....in a VERY controlled environment.......take away the predators (ALL of them).....I think the only thing that makes him more of a challenge is his craving for ONLY moving at night.

I think the second scenario is UNBELIEVABLY a rare occurrence, though.

I think Quik said it .... experience ... the older the deer, the more experienced they typically are, reletively speaking.

I know with pheasants, once you shoot at them once .... they learn that running is their better option!

I just pass on them until theyare so old that the alzheimers starts kicking in. Then I just catch them wandering around my neighborhood and put the smack down on them when they get near the house so I don't have to drag them and such.;)

Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds??.......you had to do a search to find that quote and/or save it to your hard drive. Either way you would know who said it. You have already admitted to keeping pictures of me as well.

Get help man.
