Bow Opinions...Please HELP!!

I am wanting to buy a new 07 bow this here shortly...I have done a little research into them but wanted to see what all your opinions were. Hopefully hear some input from the guys who sell or shoot or even know someone who shoots any new bow...If you were going to be buying one, what would you buy? I pull 28in and 65-70 lb. I am wanting to keep the total set up under $1000. Alright guys...Lets here your suggestions or input! Thanks!

RE: Bow Opinions...Please HELP!!

While it isn't impossible to set up a new bow from one of the Big Three (Bowtech, Hoyt, or Mathews) for under $1,000, I would suggest looking into one of the more moderately priced manufacturer's bows. That being said, here is a reply I made recently in a thread similar to this.

As you can see from all the names being thrown out at you, there are plenty of excellent mid-range pirced bows on the market currently.

Bowtech has Diamond.
Hoyt has Reflex.
Mathews now has Mission.

My suggestion, as it always is, is to visit your local pro shop and shoot as many models as you can in your price range. Trust me when I say that at least one bow you shoot will just feel... right. It'll grab you and you won't want to put it down to pull your wallet out.

Shoot some of last years top shelf bows too. You'll find excellent deals on fully set up bows over on ArcheryTalk.com

Among these I would strongly suggest Ross and Bowtech. But again, shoot as many as you can before making any deicsion.

RE: Bow Opinions...Please HELP!!

If you want to stay under $1000, you may want to look into my set up. For $950, I got:

Bow-Diamond Black Ice
Sight- Cobra Sidewinder
Rest- TR Dropzone
Arrows- 1/2 dozen Gold Tip Pro Hunter
Stabilizer- Doinker(not sure on exact model, but it works really well)
Quiver- Kwikee 6 arrow, not the best, but good enough.:D

I also added an STS but that was not included in the price, but it is worth getting. I love this bow and will have it for a while, definately worth looking into. Good luck in your search.

I think it would be touch to set-upMathews, Hoyt or Bowtechfor under $1,000.

That being said, my pro-shop has the Elite Synergy for $650. You could probably do that and get it either right under the $1K or at it.

I also like the Diamond bows.

ALL THE BOW ABOVE ARE GOOD EQUIPMENT, MY BEST ADVICE IS TO GO TO THE SHOP AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU HAVE TO SPENDAND SHOOT MULTIPLE BOWS AND GET WHAT FEELS THE BEST FOR YOU.

Ihear people say that you can't set up a Mathews, Bowtech or Hoyt for under $1000.00 but it can be done. Maybe you don't get a Drenalin, Guardian or Vetrix but all three companies have less expensive bows. I'm a Mathews shooter and you can get a brand new Mathews Outback, which is a really good bow, for $599.00. Soif you want one of those three bows don't give up you can do it.

I think I paid about $650 for my bare Mathews Switchback XT last September. I think my setup was between $1000 and $1100, including everything but the broadheads, I already had those.

Martin Bengal or Pantera, black gold sight, trophy ridge drop zone rest, you can keep the total of those bows under $800 and I even kept mine under $700. I love my Bengal and i would defenitely shoot one before you buy one of the more expensive ones.

anyone know anything about Elite bows?

Elite has really stepped it up this year, I think they might have finally worked all the bugs out. They come with Vapor Trail strings which are supposed to be one of the best. I dont see anything wrong with elite now and they are definately speed demons. Everyone over on AT seems to praise them and everyone here puts em down so who knows!

I think setting up a top shelf bow for under $1,000 can be done easily.

For example

Most Bowtechs around here are $650-$700

Rest $75
Sight $80
Quiver $15
Peep $8
Stabilizer $20

That is under $850 for midrange accessories........he would even have $150 to apply in upgrades if he wanted an accessory that was more pricey.

He sounds like this isn't his first bow so I am assuming he has a release, arrows, case, etc If he does not he will be right around a grand with my prices listed plus the other stuff he needs to start from scratch.

It can be done easily.

I AGREE 100%!!!! I had just over $500 in my Reflex Highlander, including arrows and BH's when I set it up, and if you already have arrows and BH's, then all you really need is REST, SIGHT, STAB., and QUIVER. Pretty easy to do Quiver and Stabilizer for $50-75, then a Vectrix in my local shop runs $690, add a $120 rest, and a $100 sight, plus tax, should be pretty easy to stay UNDER $1000!!!

Hoyt Vectrix or the Bowtech Guardian. Outfit either with the drop away rest of your choice and a black gold radiant sight.

RE: Bow Opinions...Please HELP!!

I will probably catch grief for this, but it is what I have done for three years. If you know your dimensions and you know what products you want, you can outfit yourself very affordably through ebay. I set up an 05 mighty mite and then an 06 Allegience with:
dead nuts pro 5 pin
tranquilizer stabilzer
braided sling
scott lil goose release
alpine soft loc quiver
and now sts stabilizer
All for less than 800.00
I also get all my arrows and broadheads, optics, cases, camo, stands and harnesses, boots and scent accessories from ebay too.

Two words..............Student Loans!!! :D

I agree, but pick your spots bud.......you don't NEED a $150 sight to kill a deer. Don't get junk but don't put yourself on Ramen noodles for 6 months to outfit a bow. You will have plenty of money when you finish school.

what do u guys see as the best short draw bow on the market for 07?
Bowtech Equalizer...............hands down.
