This has nothing to do with bashing Mathews............I thought the Drenalin was the nicest all around bow I shot this year.

This is just scarey.

If I remember right, it was broke when it was in a bow vise. I could be wrong though.

seriously though that does look like an area of high stress..like the limb kinda pivots on that point..

This was the explanation by the shooter. I really don't know or care how it happened........either way it had to be a scarey scene.


Picked up my new 30" 70 # drenalin yesterday, had the bow shop rig it, STS, Limb Savers, Leaches, shot it probably 30 times, drew the bow, next thing I know I am on my knees and the bow shop owner is asking me if I am alright, the bottom limb broke in half at the pivot point next to the riser, something hit me in the mouth, knocked me down, parts went everywhere.

That STS looks wrong to me too...........unless it got twisted in the explosion.

My brother tried his buddies release one day and drew his bow back forgetting he had his release around his string..........it got sucked into the cam and everything let loose. THAT was a freaky event that scared the heck out of everyone.......this must have been insane.

No you are wrong...that's Mathews new adjustable axle to axle length shooting system. You maymake fun of it now but just you wait and see next year everybody will be using it.:D

I'm honestly not all that suprised, nor will I be if a Guardian or two has limb failure. Both Mathews and Bowtech are using new limb designs this year that they haven't really in the past, so its no big suprise that they'll have a problem here and there.

Glad to hear that the shooter wasn't hurt any worse than just being hit in the mouth.

That pic has been on many archery forums.. I don't think it was broke by just shooting it..Come On!!! I've heard every thing from it was sawed half way through, broke in a bow press, in a auto wreck. I think it was staged to bash Mathews..Why would some one do that to an $800. bow? Who knows, but it might make people think twice about buying one, and to some companies that might be worth it. ( maybe the Company that has issues with their limbs breaking?)The Limbs would'nt break at the thickest point. Mathews was contacted about this Bow and they heard nothing about it. (Cover UP) NOT!

it has been admitted on AT that that limb was ruined in a bowpress. Also, a search on this forum will find that Mathews engineers and warranty techs have never received that bow for a limb replacement, which is unusual.

Glad whoever was shooting it wasn't hurt. That is one of the fears that I have when shooting is having itsnap, granted i'm not that good looking of a guy but I don't want to get any worse ;)

Has something like that happen to me years ago it was with a cheap senika compound when I was about 13 I drew it back it was at 45lbs the limb snaped clean in half the upper limb and it went flying around my right shoulder missing my head by inches. Got lucky it would of given me a concusion if not worse. But the good thing is I got a new nice bow out of it since I have archery leagues starting the next day. Got me a Jennings Rackmaster quad. Good bow still have it but I am upgrading this year to the drenalin.

Whatever happened I'm sure it was chaotic.


How is it that Mathews never knew about this bow? No matter how it got broken I'm sure the limb had to be replaced. The whole story sounds weird.

There was no warranty claim on the limbs ..... which, if the bow was broken by a press, that would not be covered. I do agree with you that something seems weird about the whole deal. ... .

I love myMathews, put I DO NOT like this new model at all, I hope all future bows made by them are not made like this one is, if it is, then I will be switching to something different.

I don't like it personally, just does not shoot like a switchback or even LX for that matter, seems to "BowtechJumpy" once you hit the release. But this is my own opinion, I think Mathews took a step back when they made this thing, and that's something I hope they fix.

The exploded thing was a joke. But I find it kind of hard to believe that whoever was on that press did not hear that limb "pop". Hedid shoot it like 30+ times after it was serviced, and I think if it were cracked it would not have withstood that many shots. But this is purely speculation on my part. I am taking that you have one of these? How do you like it? Like I said, I love Mathews, I had a LX for 4 years then bought the Switchback and this new one doesn't even come close to either of those IMO.
