RE: CheifHeadHunter
Ooops, does your bow have the Bio-grip? If not, disreguard most of this post because that's what I keyed into. It looks like they went away from that grip this year.
Hi. Did you buy it before you could try it out? It sounds like you've got a pretty good idea that is where your problem lies and if your not comfortable with it, your repeatability and consistancy will suffer. The bio-grip makes this type of bow especially important to "try before you buy" in my opinion. Some guys just plain love it and others wouldn't have one- period. I think it has alot to do with how you prefer to grip your bow. Before I started looking into new bows I was shooting an old magnesium riser Martin Lynx with a pretty narrow throat. I gripped that bow with a high wrist and with my hand rotated in at the top or out at the bottom. My groups were better that way and it felt comfortable to me, so I think the Bio-grip compliments my shooting style. The shop got a used Anaconda on trade and I took the time to shoot it on more than one visit. I really liked the grip and it's probably the thing that lured me most to my decision, but I can also understand how some could think it is akward. I liked the way that bow shot with nothing on it and I was looking for a hunting bow so I decided to go with its shorter sibling. They had the Anaconda marked at $185 and someone put it on layaway within a few days but they still let me shoot it. I wish I had jumped on it when I first saw it but I wasn't done shopping yet. If you were interested in knowing my feelings about the DB otherwise then- -super quiet (limbsavers, x-ring hydraulic stabi., catwiskers, cable dampners) -very low handshock and little if any vibration -consistenly accurate for my hunting needs, excellent groups out to the shot distance I'd take (20-30 depending on variables)/2 for 2 this year on deer and 1 for 1 on tree rats -not well suited for backyard target shooting IMO because of limited accuracy at the longer ranges (I really enjoy launching the bombs from long range in the off season 40-60 yds)and this shortie doesn't seem to group great that far out -a really fun bow to shoot -I love the way it looks (although it may seem shallow, its important to me)/ it has a great finish I'd say since you don't like the way the grip feels then I could verywell be the biggest contributing factor in your accuracy problems. The grip has everything to do with how comfortable you are with your bow and how well you will perform with it. That is not to say that you can't shoot it better than you are now or that you won't get the "feel" for it. Is it well tuned yet? If I remember correctly it does have a fairly short brace height and around 33" ATA, right? I might be a bit critical to begin with. Well ijimmy, I hope this helps you somehow. It went a bit long but I wanted to give you the best answer I could because I'm sure this is important to you. Best of luck with it.
