Thanks Datbuck for the reminder. Lately there have been A LOT of posts regarding equipment. These posts would get more responses posted in the Technical forum. There is so much more to the HuntingBBS.com system than the bowhunting.com forum alone. Check out some of the forums that you don't usually visit when you get a chance!

Hey Datbuck what exactly is your problem with what is going on here. The question about equipment have been extremely broad and open to interpretation. This provides an excelent forum to explain experiences and successes while using the equipment in a certain way. By telling people they can not post a question about bowhunting in a bowhunting forum sounds really strange to me. If you do not like a question or do not find it interesting then do what I do and do not respond to that particular question. I have yet to find a question in this forum which would not fall under the fairly broad range of topics. If you do not like the route this forum is taking than it is your own fault for making the rules so open to interpretation.

Where do you folks get the idea that Datbuck is referring to equipment threads as being a problem?
He simply copy and pasted the description that goes along with what is supposed to be covered in this forum... <BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Talk about the passion that is bowhunting. From what I have observed, this is a fairly laid back message board and following the few simple rules is beneficial to us all. Nothing against the poster of the following thread, but I find that asking what someone does for a living to support his/her bowhunting to be a bit of a stretch as far as staying within the Bowhunting forums topic perameters. I think it would have been better served in another forum, don't you agree? |

Well Wahya as far as the question about employment goes it fell under the "I do not find this topic interesting therfore I will not reply to it" category. I still think it has to do with bowhunting, however. What if someone out there has found a way to turn bowhunting into an aspect of their career. Wouldn't we all like to know about that. I think I would. I think of the question you have a problem with as more of a question posed to learn about everyone in the forum. I always like to know more about the people I am having a dialog with. All I am saying is that the basic outline given to everyone who posts in this forum is so broad that almost anything that pops in to my head could be twisted until it would fit some aspect of the forums rules. If they wanted to hear stories then the directions should say "Bowhunting Stories Forum". I think of this site as an everything bowhunting site and I think the moderators should be welcoming any and all input. I just do not think it is Datbuck's place to be trying to shape others opinions in a fairly public forum which I believe anybody with an e-mail can join if I am not mistaken. Sure if somebody is breaking rules then I can see why Datbuck would have a problem. I have only seen a couple of instances where this was the case and the moderators did a fine job of getting rid of obscene material. Datbuck said in his post we need to keep our topics on topic and like I said earlier I have yet to see a post which did not fit the broad range of "The passion that is bowhunting." If Datbuck does not like the way people are posting then why doesn't he change the wording of the forum description to a more limited focus.

better suited in an e-mail for discussion between you two.Why don't you send DB an e-mail instead of tashing him here. What you did is a sure way to make enemies

I have no problems with any post here. I simply responded to a portion of your statement. As far as how Datbuck or any other moderator does his/her job here, in my opinion, they do a great job but I also think the owners of the site have a little say in how things are run as well. Besides, compared to other sites you can visit which are public forums, this site is as easy going as it can possibly be and still retain some sort of structure. One site in particular that comes to mind has banned people from participating simply for objecting to forum rules. The moderators here are reminding posters that there are other forums for some of the threads that are being posted in the bowhunting forum but don't really belong there.
