RE: hunting rain
I have never bowhunted deer in the rain. Done it for elk plenty of times but have never seen a darn thing.Funniest thing was last year the clouds were startin to bank up right when we were headin out. The guys wanted to stay back but i talked em into going saying those clouds ain;t got rain in them etc. Well we walked to our stands and the sun came out. I was thinkin ah ha told ya so. I texted my bud syaing aren;t you happy u came. 20 minutes later she clouded over rude and the rain pounded unreal hard for the whole evening. I was not popular in camp that night lol

RE: hunting rain
i LOOOOOOOOVE hunting in a light rain.
makes tracking a little harder, but i have been fortunate and have had most of my deer fall within sight or earshot. the light rain keeps everyone else out of the woods. but the deer dont seem to mind. |
RE: hunting rain
Using one of those "Buckwing" umbrella's while up in a treestand during a light rain works pretty slick. I don't like hunting in a downpour any more than the next guy, but a light rain I can tolerate.;)

RE: hunting rain
Some of my best hunting days have been rain soaked. In fact, between myself and a few huntin' buddies, we have taken several P&Y class animals while hunting in the rain. One of those buddies took 2 trophy class bucks (including a double droptine) just this past season while hunting in the rain. We've found that the hunting seems considerably better than normal during periods of light rain orimmediately after a hard rain. Of course IF you're not out there you'll miss that window of opportunity.I honestly consider quality rain gear one of the best hunting investments I've EVER made!

RE: hunting rain
This past season I hunted a day in the rut.. there was no action untill 12:15 when a decent 6 came into 7 yards, I drew back and shot and I felt something hit my wrist.. I also missed the buck.. I was what the world then I looked at my bow and my string came off! I have no clue what happened if it was because of the rain or possibly my grunt call around my neck might have gotten caught... then the deer kinda spooked to 20 yards away and didnt still see me and stood there broadside! I was like you have got to be kidding me! thats my story in the rain.

RE: hunting rain
I love hunting in the rain. A light rain is great for hunting any game. If its a downpour I will not bowhunt but I will hunt in any kind of weather with a gun in my hands.

RE: hunting rain
I never bow hunt in the rain. 2 reasons 1. too hard on your equipment 2. I feel its a little unethical as the ligt rain could turn into a downpore any time and there goes your blood trail and a wasted deer. Some folks do it and do just fine but its not for me.

RE: hunting rain
nefarious, atleast your new bow has a lifetime warranty (although, lets face it... bowtech rules:D!) I hunted in the rain this year and saw a lot of action. I had a spike under my stand early. I had a 6 point walk 30 yards out. and i had 2 doe walk walk about 40 yards away.
i dont know about yall but i think rain also gets rid of your scent more too. they cant use their scenses to the best of their ability |
