I don't know how the hunting is in southern Georgia. However, I do know one thing! Since your fiance is my sister you had better invite me down to find out. :D[8D] Just kidding bro. If you guys move to GA we will fish down there and hunt up here in IL. Sounds like a deal to me!!!!!!!!!!:D World record largemouth came from GA and well everyone knows about the deer hunting in IL. We can't lose.

I LOVE GEORGIA...south georgia is beautiful with excelent hunting. The bowhunting down there is a little tougher. But most of it is swamp bottoms, Hardwoods, Fields ( not good for a bow) and lots of planted pines.

I am not from Georgia, but I do know some basics on it's own deer herd.

Their are some great whitetail coming out of Georgia and there has been for years. More Boone and Crockett whitetails come from this state than any other state surrounding it's borders.. many more.

The reason.. during the middle part of the 1900's whitetail numbers were very poor throughout the south. Most southeastern states restocked their deer herds during this time frame. Taking whitetails from different states and breeders and releasing them into the wild. Georgia took deer from both Wisconsin and Texas.. states with very good genetics. Thus, a better deer herd, geneticaly, roams most of Georgia than states surrounding itself. Some real good whitetails come from Georgia every year.

Of course the chances of taking a better whitetail exist in a state like Illinois.. you can still take some great bucks in Georgia.
