what type are these ?
What type of rubs are these? Are they hit by all buck in the area? THis is the only cluster of rubs in the vincinity that seem to nbe hit every year.
Would you hunt right on top of them? They are in a cedar thicket. ![]() |
RE: what type are these ?
That could be a sign post rub tree. If it is most of the Bucks in the area will rub that tree to the nub for years to come.

RE: what type are these ?
It'd be worth putting a trail cam on them to see who's in the neighborhood but it's likely that most of the activity is at night.

It looks like some Texas brush country, and yet you live in New York. I think you should put up a trail cam like this guy ^^^^ said

Those are of the nice type I would say!!

RE: what type are these ?
cam. and they look like they are from a mature buck

RE: what type are these ?
The rubs aremost likely community rubs if they are hit every year. The does most likely hang ou a lot in that area night an day.

RE: what type are these ?
Those appear to be "sign post" rubs to me too. Looks like you've got quite a find there. I like the trail cam idea. Man I'd place a stand there if I were you

RE: what type are these ?
looks and seems to me like a buck rub

RE: what type are these ?
I agree with KodiakArcher most of the rubbin' activity is most likely at night but it would be worth putting a trail-cam on just incase there is a buck hittin' it during day light hours.

RE: what type are these ?
I would likely set up at the closest acron trees on a ridge or somewhere in that area on one of the trails with the freshest sign with other rubs near the trails.

RE: what type are these ?
I do plan on putting a cam there. I do know there are a couple of 140 plus deer in that area if they werent killed this year. Those trees are about 8- 10 inches in diameter!
Ill have to see ifI can find some sheds. |
RE: what type are these ?
this could also be a deer's core area. if that is the case, i recommend not hunting right on top of it.
i know deer around here will keep the same core area until they feel its no longer safe. a core area is like the deers bedroom. its where he feels safe. he knows everything about that particular area since he spends alot of time there. its normally where he beds (except for the rut).he will notice if something is outta place if you go in there.if you pressure too hard in this area, he will be gone. but if it is a community rubbing spot, then you just struck gold. either way, you just gained ALOT of knowledge. i would also put a game camera there... |
