Using NASA World Wind to find new hunting ground
#1
I have just started using this great tool to pin point farms that have all of the types of habitat that could potentialy make for great deer huntin'. It is a satalite imagry program that will allow you to look over the entire world for hunting spots if you want. Once you see some terrain that looks good yo can zoom in and look at the contour of the land from a side view. This allows you to see what the land looks like without having to interput a topo map. Just google Nasa world wind and you will be able to find it very easy. If you have useed this before tell me what you think of it.

I have used that a while back, it seemed fine. For some reason or another I switched to Google Earth, Google maps, and Yahoo maps is really good now.
The URL for that program is: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/it's a 60mb download. I might try it again if I think about it while I am at home.

This is a free download at the url that ryan provided. I like the program better than google earth because of the great 3-D graphics.

I've been using Google earth since it first came out. Its great for pre-scouting and finding shed hunting areas in this country.

Better have a grewat 3d graphic card or newest drivers or it wont work. The earth and other planets will show up white and when you zoom in thats all you see is white.

I tired it last night. I thought it was ok. I couldnt get real detailed maps of my area, the only exception was a regular topo close-up. But no overhead terrain shots.
