Default RE: Late Season Rut?

Basically what the secondary rut or late season rut means is this. Once a doe comes into estrous she has to be bred within 24 hrs. If she is not bred within that timeframe she will come back in heat about 28 days later. Lots of the late season breeding activity involve the younger does. I have seen rutting behavior as late as Jan. Is there going to be a secondary rut in Wis. Yes there will be, but you have to remember that it will not be nearly as intense as the primary rut. The primary rut in Wis. usually occurs around the middle of Nov., so if you spend some time on stand in the most productive places, you should see some rutting activity around the middle of Dec. This could be the best time of the year to take a MEGABUCK. Good luck.
