Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I am giving serious consideration to installing a Hoyt 2 piece quiver on my bow for this fall. There are several reasons for this, but I'm not going to list them here as that's not the info I am after.
Here's the thing....I've been shooting w/ no quiver for quite a few years, I've never liked the added weight...But does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting? It seems that weight added to the side of the bow COULD create an intersting delima..... |
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
i think a heavier bow absorbs more shock but i could be wrong

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
doesnt affect my shooting u just need to practice with it enough, i also have the hoyt 2 pc quiver.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I don't likehavingaquiver on my bow while huntingfor the fact thatit adds extra weight and noise.[:'(]
I do practice with a quiver on before season and I can't tell a difference in my accuracy. Why do you want a 2 piece quiver? I have always liked the option of being able to remove it "onthe fly", if I desired. |
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I shoot with a 1 piece quiver on my PSE and the only
problem i ever had was noise from vibration. After putting some little limbsavers on it, no longer a problem. Plus if I want to take it off in a blind just flip the lever and pull it off. Check out the quicke quivers. pse bruin 63# pse carbon force 300's muzzy 4 blade |

that 2 pc. wuiver is heavy and i would leave it off but i doubt it will affect the arrow flight or accuracy

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
mobo ... IMO, I think you will notice a difference at first, but if you choose to stay with it, I believe you will get used to it.
|
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I know I've always kept my quivers on when hunting. Once you get used to it you almost feel naked without it. It probably wouldn't take but 1 or 2 practice sessions to realize that what little weight it adds is actually pretty nice.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
Shooting with your quiver on might not affect you "BUT" its for sure not going to help you.Go watch some of the top Bow shoots and you won't see anybody shooting with a quiver on.Bow's are not designed to be shot with them on.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
i use an Alpine Soft Loc 3 arrow quiver. ive shot it with 3 arrows in it(shot a 4th arrow out of the case) down to shooting it with an empty quiver. i noticed nothing major in terms of accuracy. i had noise issues...but i had it hitting my rest. once i took care of that it wasnt noticable..i do think adding ALOT of arrows to the side of your bow may weigh that side down. i can tell in my hand the weight diffrence..but its not a big amount like a BIGGER quiver and more arrows would be. i dont perfer to hunt with it on though. gets in my way and i cant lay my bow across my lap or bar on my viper with it in my hand. i like to be ready..arrow nocked and bow in my hand..

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I never noticed a difference shooting with one. Like you, I just didn't like the added weight so I took it off.
I shot the same with it on and with it off. |
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I always used the Mathews stationary, never affected my shooting.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
Here is my intersting opinion;). I haven't really had it affect my shooting at all, personally I don't really like it. BUT if I'm still hunting or doing the spot and stalk of the western US, I refuse to have a giant detachable quiver on my bow. I have two quivers and generally use the detachable one if I'm hunting whitetails.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
Haven't shot with a quiver on my bow for over 13 years. I mostly hunt tree stands and ground blinds. Don't have to be that quick.
|
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
mobow, I've never seen the difference when shooting with one on or off.
|
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
I take my quiver off every time I get into the tree, just because its one more thing to make a little extra noise with vibration and what not..
|
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
It may cause a little more weight or cant to one side and effect accuracy a little bit but the reason I don't like it is the noise. The quikie I have works great for how I use it, basically as a arrow holder but its pretty noisy when shot on the bow.

RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
OK, thanks all. Guess I'll go ahead and get one.The sight I use is causing the trouble. The StarTrack has a thumb tab used to slide the pin....Anyway, with a detachable quiver on, I can't get to the thumb tab. The only way it will work is a 2 piece. I carried my detachable with me everywhere I went this year, and to be honest, it was a royal pain in the buttinsky. Yeah, I know what you are thinking....Just take it off when I get to the tree.......And I tell you that would be the logical thing to do, except I don't have adaptors long enough. The quiver bracket won't attach because of the thumb tab.
I also like the cosmetics of a 2 piece. I think they add a little fuego to the set up, if you catch my drift. I am however open to suggestions. I'm not a bit fan of the hip quivers.... |
RE: Does shooting w/ a quiver on affect your shooting?
Yes, the quiver affects me and I absolutely hate having one. I have the mount on the bow but it is used only when the bow is being towed up the tree. All other times it is hanging on the tree, or attached to my waist strap on my backpack. I will have to post pics of this rig because it really is the slickest thing I have seen for a hunting quiver setup, I made it from a kwikee 4 arrow setup and a few extra brackets.

I didn't think so...you like your single pin slider too much.;)

No quiver , Less noise .
Want more weight , just get a heavier stablizer ? Right ?;) |
