RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
Here's another thing I do when reactivating it. I put it in the dryer for longer than stated and remove it before it begins the cool down stage since it starts absorbing below a certain temp. I put it a seal bag hot.
Reactivation according to the manufacture does nothing to the garment. Do it as often as you like. I also do not use any type of scent when preparing the garment and don't handle it unless I spray my hands down first. Beware of dryers at the laundromat. They are much hotter and will melt any plastic on the garment (ball caps and the like). My garments smell roasted when they come out of the dryer. |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
ORIGINAL: Cougar Mag I guess I'll stick to keeping clean and using my newly bought X-scent baselayers and try some gumoflauge for breath. Why? Because Michaels says carbon suits don't work, silver ion clothing does work, and Don Higgins supports Gumoflauge. If the experts say one doesn't work and the other does......then they can't be wrong right?;) |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
I think where these companies get into trouble is when the make statements like forget the wind and just hunt. It's bogus advertising and a lie because you'll never get rid of 100% of your scent.
If they are going to decieve you there where else are they going to do it? |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
Did Predator camo or Inigma camo( I'm not picking on anyone, just a for instance.)have a scientific test done?? No,I don't think so. But you use it and you say it works. If Predator camo tried to tell me I could sit with nothing behind me totally skylined and not be seen I'd question them too. Read the info on how Baking soda works to control scent no lack of scientific facts with that. |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
GMMAT and many others have stated things like this on the thread my question is why use the suit then. Your doing exactly what the company is telling you not to do.
I was mine in sport wash.....dry it with scented sheets.....and store it with the same scented wafers. I then activate it with my dryer. Q:Should I use a scent cover product on my Scent-Lok suit? A:No. The activated carbon will only adsorb the cover sent and diminish the suit's ability to adsorb your human odor. However, you should still use scent-eliminating products on your boots, stand, bow case, bow, anything going to the field with you, etc. Use attractant scents at your hunting sight or with your scent drag. Scent-Lok is an extremely effective tool in making you a better hunter. A few years ago Cardeer was sending people "charms' he made and people thought that is why they were killing deer,HMMMMMMM maybe I have a million dollar idea here. |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
I was thinking of buying some, but it sounds like a big rip off the more I read about it. The fact is no one knows or will ever know.

RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
Also noticed that you are supposed to buy this stuff every 3-5 years, and they claim that is the normal life of a persons camo. I have spent good money on stuff and have used it for ten years with out alot fading etc. More marketing for the masses?

RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
ORIGINAL: archer58 Let me say, that there is a report that I will have soon from SL that is in response to 2 noted outdoor writers that discounted carbon clothing. The rumor is that these 2 gentlemen were involved in the test but I have no confirmation on that. The report was pooh-hooh'ed because SL comissioned the report. I ask you ,who pays for the testing ??? Not consumer reports, not You and not me. The manufacturer's do. Keep in mind that Greeg Sesselman is a chemical engineer who was working on filtration systems when he got the idea for SL. He was a bowhunter long before that. I did some surfing one evening and found a site carbon clothing works, can I prove it scientifically, No. Can I prove it in the woods ,Yes. play the wind the best I can. But,if the wind changes, that it often doesin the hills of PA.,I don't worry about it. We don't rely on science to test the estrous scent we use http://www.fastestbows.com/articles/..._industry.html Did Predator camo or Inigma camo( I'm not picking on anyone, just a for instance.)have a scientific test done?? No,I don't think so. But you use it and you say it works. |
RE: How to activate Carbon clothing?
I don't know of any claims made by either of those companies that go against the foundational laws of chemistry and science. |
