RE: This is really sad - stands stolen.

Years ago when I lived with my parents we bought some property way out in the georgia country on a dirt road. There was no one around, and the place was loaded with deer. We hunted a powerline and the woods behind it on the back side of our property. Well, about the time we moved in some other houses sprang up and the property bordering ours on the powerline was bought by a group of "hunters". I worked all summer to buy my FIRST treestand. Bow season was great, plenty of deer, and only the occational sight of the other hunters scouting for gun season. Well gun season started and all heck broke loose. These guys were tresspassing on someone elses land, hunting HIS stand and SHOT HIS DOG ON HIS LAND!!! Shots rang out constantly, they hunted right on the property lines of my property, shot does out season, killed whatever walked, or missed it. One week into gun season my stand that I had worked so hard to buy went missing. I went to the tree and it was replaced with an old, crappy, hand made, baker stand!!! Like it was some kind of trade? No, they wanted to hunt that tree on my property, and took my stand, and put up thier own to hunt OVER BAIT!!! The game warden got them for shooting the guy's dog, my stand was never recovered, no one had proof (pictures) they were shooting does out of season. They lost the propery and got slapped with a nice fine. Even now years later the property isn't the same. For a while you couldn't DRAG a deer on our property. I hate people like this.

"Hey ya'll, watch this"

It is sad that we have to lock up stands in the first place! Even at that they still disappear.
BOWDACIOUS has a great idea, and I would like to help also.
Someone connected with this group please e-mail me. I have about ten good hang on stands, I imagine I could survive with only nine!

Just putting it here for those that might miss the other one.

OK guys & gals,
Just got a email from Jeff Rawlinson, coordinator of the mentor program at Nebraska Game and Parks. Here's what he said.

Thank you for your interest and concern over the recent and most
unfortunate incidents impacting our Youth Mentored Hunting Program at the
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The loss of those stands to our
expanding program was a tough blow, especially to the kids who have been
moving them all season as they learn and put themselves in position to
harvest their first deer.

Your offer of a contribution is most appreciated as we continue to develop
this very popular and necessary program across Nebraska. Any interested
parties who would like to make a monetary donation are certainly welcome to
do so by making checks payable to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation.
Those can be sent to my attention at 21502 W HWY 31, Gretna, NE 68028.
Your donations will be greatly appreciated as we try to rebuild from this
most unfortunate incident. As negative as this action has been, the kids
have learned some very important lessons. Most importantly, with
individuals such as yourself, they have learned that there is a good amount
of support for them as they continue their endeavors in the hunting sports.

Once again, thank you for your support as it is only because of concerned
hunters such as yourself that good solid programs such as this are able to
not only survive but thrive.

Regards,

Jeff Rawlinson

It's terrible to hear of these cowardly acts, and to do it to kids...

Pretty bad when we have to lock-up everything we own on our property and it still comes up missing. I hope you catch the guttless wonders.
