Bowtech Guradian

Guy had one in five spot tonight at our club. I did not shoot it(Lefty I am), but it is the quietest bow I have ever heard. All he had on the bow is bowJax string silencers.

All I can say I was impressed!

I have heard nothing but good things about these bows and am planning on getting one this spring before turkey season:D

Geez, how much more quiet can they get, does it just go ...ppoooo...and nothing more..lol

I heard the Cardiac is the quietest?

Quiet-yes
Heavy-yes
see the pattern i think it is just like arrows but none the less i was skeptical at first but think it will be a seller for them after they work out the limb ware from the extra Y in the bow. Also i am now giving this bow the name the x-bow since that is how it looks with that new riser;)

Tell you Rob I stuck my ear right up to the bow and it was a very "dead" sound. No twang in it at all, really hard to describe. There is just no noise!

I was also quite srprised at how quiet the Guardian was. My OG is really quiet, and that thing is much quieter. Definitely a different noise that most other bows. Kind of have to hear it to really understand.

When I shot one for the first time all I could hear is the release and the arrow hitting the target. I was sold after that, I've had one on order for almost 2 months now and I still havn't seen it. I already have everything picked out for it, all I need now is the bow. What are you talking about limb wear? Guess I shouldn't be that concerned since I havea lifetime warranty.

I shot the demo one at my local dealer and was amazed at the quietness of the bow. I'll let you know how quiet my Hardwoods Guardian is after I get it set-up this weekend.;)

Bowtech has their act together, no denying that they are putting out some of the best bows the market has to offer.

I think it is too high tech for me as I am a simpleton and probably would end up hurting myself with something so futuristic.

Speaking of which, I need a new laser range finder and GPS walkie-talkie...:D Yes, my hipocracy overfloweth.

What limb ware are you referring to?

I was down at Lens again today.(a boy can never spend too much time in an archery shop). Anyway, we broke out the Guardian for another guy to experience as well as the Diamond. He like that too. He's a believer now.:D:D So was the other guy shooting next to him. We also got out the new Bowtech Xbow and shot a few arrows down range. Of course the thing is an absolute sceamer, something approaching 400fps if I'm not mistaken. I've been in the shop before when people were shooting their Xbows. This new Bowtech that looks like something from outer space is remarkably quiet for a Xbow. How do they do that?:D I'll tell you one thing though, Xbows are heavy. Shazaaam.

Once you keep to your exercise regemine david that x-bow won't be so heavy:D

I just got back from the bowshop where I shot a Guardian. To be completely honest, I didn't like it overall. My main complaint is that that 60lb bow felt like 70 plus. There seems to be a wall near the end of the draw cycle that just seems to slam the brakes on the cycle.Second dislike is the "Y" that just looks really anorexic. I don't know about those roller/bushing/pin lookin' like thingsit hasin the center pivot system. Beyond that, it was vibration free and quiet.

Almost identical to my experience with it.

the little bit that the limb moves cuases some wear on the paint but i have HEARD notice i said heard therefore it may not be true that the limb was worn down extremely bad but the little bit of limb ware was what i was talking about something a little bit of padding shouldnt fix.

Who did you hear it from??

I ask because I saw it for myself on the guardian I shot at christmas time.

The limb bend on each end on opposite sides of the pivot. As far as the harsh draw someone is talking about... no way unless the bow is so out of tune it's piece of junk feel. No way is there any harsh wall or hump or whatever you're calling it. I think this was a bogus set up or a bogus reply to discredit the machine. If you find anything harsh about a Guardian you really need help. Trolls are everywhere.

P.S. I don't work or have any connection with Bowtech. I don't sell equipment. I have no interest one way or another except the truth. He!!, I don't even own one or have one on order yet. I'm about as NON-Bowtech as you can be except I love the bow above anything else I've ever handled.

Yup, including the almighty Darton. Our season ended the 31st. I dropped my Darton off at Len's today for new strings, cables, axle lubes and check, limb pockets..a total overhaul. I may order a Bowtech tomorrow but you have to have at least one great back up.[8D][8D][8D] My Darton is fantastic, but I want a Guardian. Just have to get through this new house building and all that. Well I don't, but that's my excuse for not buying today what I'll probably buy next month.[8D];)

RE: Bowtech Guradian

David,I wanted to like the bow VERY much because there is much about the design I love BUT I found the draw to be very harsh.Granted,it was straight off the shelf and was a 29" draw and I am a 28 1/2" draw but I was pulling a60# model back with the limb bolts backed out slightly, estimated 58# and I found it very harsh.I shoot 58# so I was expecting something I would like but I hated it.:eek:The extra draw length may have something to do with it( I really suspect it does)and it may have actually been more thanI thought but it was a 60# model so it couldn't have been too much more.I hated the rounded grip so when I saw and felt that,it was instantly off my list as a shooter FOR ME so i didn't get into great detail with the setup.I much prefer a flat grip on the back, much more conducive to consistant shooting at distance.

I can see where some might love itbut it isn't for everyone.(especially for those of us that have artur in the shoulders)I have yet to draw a Bowtech that I like.:eek:That isn't bashing but just an honest opinion from someone that likes a different feel.

IF the grip had been more suited to me,I'm sure I could have gotten the bow setup to my liking(probably 56#'s at 28 1/2" draw)butI saw no point in it.Especially since I am not in the market right now.Just wanted to give the shop that I shoot for an honest opinion. So far the Vectrix or Vectrix Xlis at the top of what I have looked at this year for hunting.

Dave,

There are a handful of threads in the tech forum that mention the guardian having a harsh draw. There are 3 guys in this thread that all agree with that (I'm one of them).........and we all shot (or at least drew) the bow (I shot it before christmas). There is plenty of mention of it at AT as well just do a search.

I don't think it is a coincidence or a conspiracy. It's hard to say two people will "feel" the same thing but way too many people have mentioned it to brush it off as bogus.

atlas, for the record.I never shot the bow.I pulled it back and tested the grip, that I already new wasn't for me and decided the draw was way more harsh than I like.

Didn't see the need to start setting it up at that point.I am sure it is dead in the hand and quiet.Too many have stated that as fact for me to dispute but I don't really care about those features nearly as much as I do hold and draw.

Noted........and edited. Doesn't change anything because we are discussing the draw and not the shot. I havn't seen very many say it didn't shoot like a champ.

TFOX... fair is fair, you don't like it, that's fine. One thing I would question though is you estimated what poundage you were shooting after backing out the limb bolts a little. You really need to pull a bow on a scale and KNOW for sure what it's pulling. Things get tagged wrong all the time. Bows are different etc etc etc. It's possible you were pulling less or 10 pounds more.

buckeye 02-03-2007 09:09 AM

RE: Bowtech Guradian

The Guardian does not respond the same as most bows when backing out the limb bolts. It takes near 2 full turns on both limbs to equal roughly1 pound of draw weight.

You are absolutely right, that is why I stated it the way I did.I am not a newbie and have pulled thousands of bows so the draw cycle is what I was feeling of and not necessarily the poundage. It did feel smoother than other Bowtechs I have pulled but not as smoothe as the Hoys.

And if it was off by 10 pounds over the tag,I would not be considering that bow anyway.;)

Again,I am not bashing the bow and I really wantd to like the bow becaues I love the design but the grip really disapointed me.They really need to square the back off a little so one can get a more consistant grip.
