"Mule deer" the other red meat

Do any of you guys hunt mule deer? I live in Utah and that is all we have here. I hunted whitetail in Montana when I was in highschool but onlykilledone doe. It seems everything on here is about whitetails, what do you think of their cousin the mule deer?

Probably everything is whitetails is because whitetails dominate the country and it's only a handful of members here that only have mule deer. We did have some entered in the bow contest tho.

I'm more than anxious to hear more about Mule deer, we don't hear much and I'm impressed with them. I hope to ground stalk some in the near future. It's one of my goals.

We have about half and half around here. They taste about the same. Mulie are not as smart as whitetail. I have noticed thatmulies dont' get hit by vehicles nearly as often. They at least look before crossing the road. Mulie are alot harder to drag up a hill too.

Wish we had them here in IA. I went to school out in the NE panhandle, and we had mulies and whitetails there. Now mulies are practically non-existant there. My brother-in-laws dad had a 20,000 acre ranch out there and we had to hunt hard to find a mulie buck. I took one. He said that the whitetails run the mulies off and arer more aggressive. I want to take a nice one soon with a bow though and I have been invited for a great hunt in SD with a friend. I just have to find the time to go.

No offense to the successful bowhunters but, not real big. ;) Here's the link for pictures. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1676876

Mt largest deer to date is a mule deer. I shot it when I was 14 with my 45 pound bear bow. I grew up in Wyoming and still hunt them every now and then.

There is definately more whitetail than mule deer in North America. From what I have heard, everyone who hunts them gets hooked. You definately have to hunt a different way. There is no tree stands. Just spot and stalk. I think the most popular strategy is to find one as it is bedded down, and stalk from downwind without boots so they can't hear you.

You are right about the spot and stalk. There are a few guys that will pattern them and do the tree stand thing.

Speaking of muleys, here is something you don't see everyday.
