Most accurate broadhead?
I'm new to the forum, I have a Bear Instinct bow I am shooting carbon arrow 340's with 100gr practice tips, and have some Muzzy Phamtons 100 gr also them seem ok but is there a better broadhead that I should try?
Thanks |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Any broadhead made these days will get the job done. Its up to you to put it where it needs to be. Simple as that.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Get ready for a zillion opinions on this one......This answer seems generic, but it's the honest truth. Any quality broadhead shot off of a properly tuned bow and a properly tuned arrow will fly well.
That being said, a couple of my favorites are the Magnus Stinger and Rocket Hammerhead. |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
My personal favorite is the SlickTricks. Best flying broadhead I have found for my Bowtech.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Mobow said it perfectly. Some of my favorites are Slick Tricks and Magnus Stingers.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Yo have had great advise already. Get into some of the previous tuning threads and suck up some knowledge.
Tune it right and they will shoot. Slick tricks are great flying and the 4 blade config. leaves a great big hole. Lot of blood. |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
just like the others the slick tricks
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
I like the innerlock stainless exetrems.
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
I shoot ameican broadhead sonics, 4 blade slicktricks are awesome and the new rage mechanicals are good too, those are my faves, all fly ectremely well. (in my bow) I shoot camo 400 easton st epics.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
depends on who you talk to. The best way to do it is to try out a few diff. heads. I know that can be expensive, but if you have buddies who have diff. heads who can let you shoot them to see how they do, that's a plus. Good luck!

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
The one on the end of my arrow;)
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
I also find the Slick Trick's shoot the best from my rig . And you can't change my mind about them either . I've shot Steelforce,Crimson talon's ,Thunderhead's Montec G5's as well and still the slick's shoot the best of them all.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Once I shot a Slick Trick I was sold and see no reason to consider anything else. They group RIGHT with my broadheads out to any distance I care to shoot. After shooting a deer with one this fall I truly had to use a magnifying glass later on to check for stains on the blade so that I knew which one to sharpen as it looked as if I hadn't shot it. Deer was dead in 50 yards.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
I shoot a HEAVY (460+ gr) arrow....on advice from a good friend (thanks, Germ). When you make a great shot.....I'm sure they'll ALL perform well. When you make a marginal shot.....like this one.....
....you'll appreciate the Muzzy. This low shot went through the front side shoulder.....through the vitals and exited through the off side brisket and into the off side front leg. I like the muscle of the Muzzy for THIS reason. I'm not always making perfect shots. ![]() |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
No correct answer to your question. What ever works best for you. Muzzy 100 gr 3 bladefly perfect for me. I also shoot a Hoyt and a Bowtech. You might not like my bows or my broadheads. BTW, welcome to the forum, glad to have ya.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
A few years ago, a similar question was posed here and the most common response then was Muzzy's. I was already planning on changing heads and since they were on sale locally, I picked up a pack and found that they flew pretty close to where my FP were hitting. I've had no reason to change since. I am intrigued by what I hear about the slicktricks, but I also hear they're fairly expensive and hard to find. If that improves in the future, I'd be willing to give them a try.

muzzys work for me.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
My experience has been Magnus Stingers are the most accurate BH I have ever shot. I shoot them in my yard out to 50 yards with no flight problems...........I have always tuned for laser beam arrow flight. I don't like wobble of any kind. The Stingers fly like darts no matter how far I shoot them. Other heads tend to get a little wobble in them at farther distances..........granted this is being VERY picky and truthfully from 25 yards and under they all would smoke a deer. I shoot broadheads almost exclusively and the heads I have shot include Muzzy(3 and 4 blade), Magnus (Stinger(2 and 4 blade), Buzzcutt, Snuffer SS), Crimson Crocs, WASP Jak-hammer, Montec G5, and SteelForce. Here is my experience with all of them.
Muzzy........4 blade heads were maybe the worst heads I have ever shot. The 3 blade heads were OK, definately huntable but the accuracy is just not consistently great.......it is good, but MUCH better options exist IMO. Magnus........Stingers are near flawless IMO. Fly great, scarey sharp, and leave nasty holes with lots of blood and short trails. I did have one break on a deer's opposite side rib this year which was disappointing (found the deer no problem). Buzzcutts are the same head only serrated.......just as vicious but a little harder to sharpen at home (not an issue IMO because I just buy new blades every year) Snuffer SS are not really for me. I don';t think they fly as well as the stingers and I don't like having to resharpen blades. Crimson Crocs.........Flew really nice and are just plain COOL looking. However, they are as strong as a pop can. I saw 2 deer shot with them. 1 shoulder hit and the head was destroyed beyond recognition with penetration barely past the head. The other was smoked, going about 40 yards. It's really hard to say on this head because all I saw were the opposite extremes but I wouldn't trust them. WASP Jak Hammer........real nice mechanical that performed well for me but the deer I killed with them I didn't get a pass through and touched no bone......right through the center of the heart and I had a tough time finding him. My bow at that time was not pushing 'em out like my Patriot does now so I have little doubt this head would perform well if your bow is powerful enough. I just don't ever want to suffer through a track job like that again. Head works very well though IMO. Montec G5.........Flys really well. My brother shoots them and I shot his a bunch of times last year. Very good head that he killed a couple deer with and really never had a problem of any kind with them. I don't like resharpening blades but if I did these heads would be one of the ones I chose. SteelForce heads are nearly flawless as well. My friend shoots at about 218fps and he blows these heads through deer like a hot knife through butter. They are VERY sharp and fly well.......they also do a tremendous amount of damage (we butcher our own). My brother spined a deer with them and the head wasn't even bent. They are a solid head for sure. I just wish they came with replacement blades. For a low KE setup I would think these may be the best head available. Mostly ANY head will do the job if you make a good shot.........blaming a broadhead when YOU hit the shoulder is dumb. Don't hit the shoulder. Having said that everyone knows you are gonna clip a bone sooner or later so it is nice to feel like if you do your head will not implode. Two more broadheads I will try this year are the slick tricks and Shuttle T locks. No real way to know unless you shoot them. |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
That was darned good, Atlas.
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Simple answer, a broadhead doesn't make the accuracy. The shooter, the bow and arrow combo and then the broadhead, almost all will drive tacks in the right hands.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer Simple answer, a broadhead doesn't make the accuracy. The shooter, the bow and arrow combo and then the broadhead, almost all will drive tacks in the right hands. I can put any 125 grain broad on my setup, and hit where I want;) The most accurate head is on the end of my arrow:) For the record I have put montec 125 in the opposite shoulder, rib, leg bone and have not even nick the head. It's only weakness is how sharp they are out of the box, better this year, but they still need some work. Like Atlas said just about any of them will work |
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Try the Rocket Ultimate Steel. Very accurate, small, and deadly.
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
2-Blade Rage

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
My experience has been SlickTricks while a good broadhead did not fly as true to my field points at longer ranges as did the Magnus Stinger. SlickTricks also make much more noise in flight than does the Stinger, and from limited experience the Magnus Stinger with the not as steep blade angle seems to be the king of penetration. Also Magnus Stingers have a lifetime replacement regardless of what caused the damage. However both heads spin true and are of high quality.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
I use the Slick Tricks and have had very good luck with them. Rob is right though, bow MUST be tuned first though or no head will shoot straight.

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
i have shot muzzy's, thunder heads, steel force, montec, wasp's, and some expandable heads but so far the montecs shot the best and held up the best both the 100 gr and 125 gr

RE: Most accurate broadhead?
slick triks - 100gr are on the money for me
|
RE: Most accurate broadhead?
Like most people have said its all your personal opinion, none of the manufacturers make junk these days. With a well tuned bow and properly spined arrows pretty much and broadhead should be accurate. I personaly like the G5 strikers, I just screwed them on and they hit right where my field tips did and they are scary sharp.
