Groundblind whitetail tricks/tips
Iwant to master bowhunting whitetails out of a ground blind. Looks like the easiest way to film and most exciting and in your face type of hunting. I know the importance of brushing in etc and that same day setups are hard to pull off. I have thought of putting up my blind in preseason, brushing a pocket around the blind, and then removing the blind. This way when it comes time to hunt, I have this little brush pocket that the deer have already been used to seeing, and all I do is slip my blind into the pocket. I could have brush pockets setups all over the woods for different wind setups. I would just keep the window area free of sticks and actually use some decent sized sticks/brush so there is some longgevity to these pockets. This way, I just have a little maintenance to keep these pockets working.
What do you think? Any successful portable groundblinders advise that the Double Bull videos haven't covered would be appreciated. Edit: I have two DB's and plan on getting two of these ASAT blinds so that Sarah and I can each have two. I have hunted turkeys a lot out of blinds and have had some close encounters with deer too. I just want to master it. Ground blind hunting is still in it's baby stages(portable blinds) compared to treestands, so I know there is a lot to learn. |

make sure you can shoot fine sitting down and the blind is big enough to cover your draw length and get a chair witha back on it

RE: Groundblind whitetail tricks/tips
I hate hunting out of ground blinds, but I love hunting from the ground. I do just as you said and make me a natural blind and just sit behind it. You could put your cameraman (woman) about 20 yds down from you in a complete leafy suit and I think it would be easy to pull off. I really see no need to carry blinds in. I have whacked quite a few deer just standing beside a tree.

Thanks MTH, that's it; no professional ground pounders here?

I really don't know what to add that you already experienced from using the Double Bull.
What I can say is when I set up my blind and brush it in , Imake sure I brush the top of the blind as well. The only way I would leave my blindout over nite is if I was on private land and I knew that I would be out there in the morning. |

Make sure you can shoot out your window[&:] My bucket sank down about 3 inches and I shot a hole in my double bull 2 years ago. I still killed the turkey, but it was an expensive kill[8D]
