Supplemental feeding & Turkeys

I supplemental feed my deer ......all year long......except during turkey season. It's illegal to bait turkeys.....and I hunt the same areas I deer hunt, when I turkey hunt.

Is it illegal to bait turkeys, everywhere? If so....do you shut down your supplemental feeding for deer during the turkey seasons......or just hunt elsewhere?

I have a food plot for them, and just hunt another spot.

I'm getting ready to plant about 4 acres of food plot......and I won't have to stop feeding. To be honest....I don't think they come to the feeder much during the Spring (deer). I think the turkeys eat it all.

I'm planting the food plot with both in mind.

I take my feeder out for deer and turkey season. I seem to only get turkeys on mine per game cam pics, so i moved it yesterday to a new location near a very good deer run where they are cutting thru a corner of a woodlot. The turkeys love shelled corn. Are you guys planting chufa?

in CA it is illegal to knowing feed big game..ie food plot, salt lick, corn, etc..unless u are in ag. business than that is fine...you cannot hunt over it at all...or atleast within 300 yards of a ag. business like corn or alphalpha....for turkeys you can feed them no problem....but you have to remove the food from the area 10 days before you hunt it...very strange laws in CA...

In texas you can bait anything anywhere anytime. In Oklahoma it's illegal to hunt turkeys within 100 yards of feed.

I have a few things. I have one large plot that is just over an acre and have 2 more next year that are being added. Each of them will have strips of different stuff. I did well with the turnips in it too so that will go in a lot of it. I only hunted it 2x times so it got a lot of rest. I also supplemental feed corn as well when it is legal and have thousands of pics of turkeys and deer on the camera from there. That place doesn't have feed usually within 50 days or so within any season and it never really gets hunted. I have pics with more than 15 longbeards in the same pic........[8D].

We're gonna have some chufa in that field. It's a field my neighbor cleared the past few weeks....and he told me he'd plant anything I wanted him to. I agreed to pay for all of the seed (he was gonna plant it with 'something'). It's about 3-4 acres....and gets LOTS of sun. It also sits directly adjacent to my hunting area....and, in fact, is land I have permission to hunt....but never have. That'll change, soon.

It's 100% illegal to bait turkeys in PA, food plots are legal. You can supplement feed turkeys up to 30 days prior to opening day.
