Kaos,
I've NEVER seen Rooney with an earring. Maybe he wore one as a gag for one of his little complaining sessions, but could you have him confused with Ed Bradley who is also on 60 Minutes? They don't look much alike--Bradley is taller, thinner, and black --but he DOES wear an earring regularly!
I don't agree that jewelry--or earrings specifically--necessarily means anything about a person's sexuality anyway. Sure there are homosexuals who wear earrings, but there are also a lot of heterosexuals who do too. Take Michael Jordan and most bikers and pirates in history, for example! Some folks just think it makes them look like a "rebel."
I think we get into trouble when we say, "If X then automatically Y" when it comes to other people. This is what happens when many "conservatives" think of "liberals," or many non-hunters think of hunters, etc. Folks have a thousand different motivations for doing what they do and most people don't bother to understand those motivations. Instead they just lump folks with a similar interest or behavior together, and any sense of the individual gets lost.
Seems to me if I want to know why someone behaves a certain way or holds a certain opinion, the best thing to do is to get to know them and then ask 'em why. If I don't like the answer then I have to make a decision, but at least I'm dealing with facts. Basically, if we don't leap to conclusions then we spare everybody a lot of grief. JMHO.
Take care.

Mwether,
I think you are right, I was wrong, I gave Rooney a bad rap on the ***** issue, it was Brad the fag .
Although I do joke around here on this forum, I do frown upon liberals (who support removing prayer from schools, pro abortion, right to burn the flag etc....).
Just my opionion, I expect liberals to disagree .

Mwether,
Your definitions of liberal and conservative are great examples of dictionary terms that do not apply at all to real life. Conservatives do not resist change. They simply want change to occur in a different direction. In politics, liberalism is less a philosophy and more a sign that you stand on a particular side of issues. For instance, liberals believe the government is better at determining most aspects of your life than you are. They want government control of everything, ie, education, welfare, health, morals, etc,. You and I are not able to make smart decisions, so they must make them for us. Conservatives believe the government should have limited functions. It should provide a national defensive, an infrastructure and little else. Conservative believe life is worth a few risks to enjoy great freedoms. Liberals believe they must protect everyone from all evils with laws that restrict and control everyone.
I'll stop now with the politics debate, but I wanted to make it clear the dictionary definitions of those terms simply do not apply to the political use of those labels.
