I too think you made the right descision, you could have never found her kept you looking at night. And the critters do have to eat like Coug said! You could do it all over again and still find your doe but not ravegged by the critters, that part of the hunt. At least you did go back and look for her the next day! Hats off to you for not giving up!
I'm in agreement with this. You did nothing wrong, and everything RIGHT! You were right on in waiting. You found her which was your intention. That's just an unfortunate event of hunting that happens to a lot of us. Accept it for what it is, and know that you found her while attempting to do your best. You made the right decisions, followed your beliefs and in the end it paid off to some extent. Hey at least you salvaged something! Congrats!

You played it by the book. You should be happy that you found her.

Navy, good to hear you are getting out as the MDseason dwindles away.
I agree with everyone else here, you did the right thing!

I had the same thing happen with a button buck my son shot a few years ago.
We ended up finding him the next morningabout 40 yards from where we decided to stop tracking.
Forwhatever reason the critters of the night took out the butt as well. [:'(]

I think you did the right thing too. You may have never found her in the first place if you had not left her overnight.

I had to leave my buck overnight this year and was glad that I had. I got lucky, no critters got a meal.

you did the right thing.. sometimes that is the conclusion, but it is much better than going in and jumping her and losing her altogether.
