I go by points. I only use # x # when desribing muleys, elk, blacktail for some reason, etc.

I count by the points. That is the way my dad taught me so that is how I call them.

I get so annoyed when people call whitetail 5 by 5's...or whatever

Exactly, or Mulies can simply be referred to as the number of points on one side, example 4x4 ='s a 4 point, unless you had an uneven number of points , example 5x4 ='s a 5x4.

I would express elk like a 6x6 or a 5x5 but for whitetails or muleys points is the way to go
