DANG... I Did IT again!!!
 

So every year I say I'm going to hunt HUNT HUNT when the rut arrives. Every year by the time it does I have several deer. Every year I have a trip planned near enough to the rut to curtail my hunting around home. This year for example. I knew it was coming the second week in November(like the 10th-20 or so) SO, I have a trip planned to NY the 15-19th. I take the week off from hunting before I go. I always take at least a week off when I return to appease HER.(you know who) Anyway, I get to NY and hunt the afternoon of the 15th, and all day the 16th, AM of the 17th and sat with my buddy with his gun on 18th. I don't hunt the 19th..I drive home. I'm going hunting finally again tomorrow AM with Len. So that means the only hunting I've done was the week ending the 9th(but I was taking care of the guys in from Florida and not worried about my own hunting) and then I had the Vietnam reunion 8-11th. I bowhunted the 15-17th and here it is Dec 3rd. I forgot I took last week off because my son and his honey were in town for TGiving DANG... I missed the rut again. I did get a 7point but haven't really hunted the rut. Heck... I almost missed November.

I made a point of hunting a few days of the rut this year. Normally I don't care that much about when the peak of the rut really is. However I did shoot an 8 pointer on 11/21 so maybe I need to look at it a little closer.

Yea right! I really dont get excited about the rut.I hunt the same all season.Infact I shot very few deer during the rut in my life time.I always had better luck in the early bow seasons when it is warmer and I can sit in comfort all day.I hate the cold anyway.

my best hunting is in oct. by the time nov. gets here and the bucks are moving real good the wife is at wits end with me and my darn hunting. i had 2 hunting trips planned and somehow she was there for both of them just try to tell her that it is a guy thing or to get her to pick up a bow. buy the middle of Sept. she is already had enough of it and the season has not even started yet. i guess i should just try not to get excited next year. but i did do some rut hunting this year. sometimes ya just kinda got to wonder if it is worth it. HECK YA IT IS WORTH EVERY ARGUMENT!!!!!!!!

I know how you feel. I haven't hunted the rut in years. Then it wasa like a day or 2 and then years again. I always seem to have one before hand.
